“Doe-A-Deer was a nice fit for our family vacation with 7 adults, a 9 year old, and an 11 month old. The house was well stocked and very clean upon our arrival. The beds and furniture were all comfortable and we felt very much at home during our stay. The kitchen was stocked well and had many extras like spices, condiments, and basic staples like flour, oils, baking soda, etc.
We thoroughly enjoyed the deck with outdoor fireplace and gas grill; the fire pit with adirondack chairs, and lots of the games and puzzles available. We were lucky enough to see a few deer passing though nibbling on some tender shoots for snacks as they went.
We rented a pontoon boat from Placid Boat Rentals and spent a few hours on Lake Placid relaxing and enjoying a lunch we packed. It was a bit expensive, but we enjoyed our time on the lake so for us it was worth it. We visited High Falls Gorge and enjoyed seeing the beautiful waterfalls and scenery. The waterfalls were breathtaking and the whole family was able to enjoy as the first section of the trail is an easy mostly flat walk. The seniors with us were able to navigate that part of the trail easily enough.
We took a few 40 minute trips up to Plattsburg for shopping and eating out. We had a great dinner at Mainely Lobster, and wonderful ice cream and sundaes at IceBurgh Creamery. We highly recommend both places as everything was delicious and we received great service.
The owner was very welcoming and had excellent communication. We received a lot of details and great info about the area a week in advance. She was quick to assist us when we had a small (self-inflicted) issue. We had a fantastic trip, great weather and would come back and stay again. Thank you for your hospitality and the care you have taken in making your home a welcoming place to stay.”

“We love this place! I said wed come back, and we did. We enjoyed another great stay at Doe-a-Deer for the Empire State Winter Games. This place really provides everything our large group needs. Each bedroom is so comfortable and cozy for your own private space, and the living room/kitchen/dining area gives everyone a nice place to gather. Thanks for having games at the house. It made our stay that much more fun!! We are looking forward to next year!!!”

“Our Family spent a relaxing weekend here! We loved every minute of our stay! We made very good use of the outdoor fire it for making meals , smores ,etc! The cabin was very nice and clean. We had fun exploring the area,spent some time at White Face Mountain, Ausable Chasm, and Mini Golfing! Was a very fun getaway from our busy summer days! The cabin was well stocked, and service was great! ”

“Our group had an amazing vacation at Doe-A-Deer lodge! We had three families share the house to do a variety of activities during the kids February break. The house is perfect for that and well equipped with everything we needed. The location is quiet and peaceful while centrally located for what we had hoped to do. It is about 15 minutes from Whiteface for skiing and about a half hour from Lake Placid and all the activities available there. One family visited the nature center that was about 15 minutes from the house as well and really enjoyed it. We all had a great time and would stay here again. ”

“Absolutely fantastic place to stay! It's a gorgeous house, and there was plenty of room for our large family. It's also close enough to town to be convenient without being in the thick of things. We had a blast skiing and snowboarding on nearby Whiteface Mountain, and would absolutely use this property again in the future! (Also, the property owner was super nice and extremely responsive, so thanks for that!)”

“One word "Fabulous". House was perfect for our large group of 14 with many bedrooms and a magnificent great room with matching fireplace that acted as a central hub during our very cold ( minus teens every night) stay. Owners were very communicative and helpful even scheduling our driveway plowing with us after the 20" snowfall. Close proximity to Lake Placid and Whiteface also makes for a great stay. ”

“We loved Doe-A-Deer! What a fantastic house! Since we had children participating in the Empire State Winter Games at Whiteface, it was the perfect location: a quick easy ride to the mountain. It's not far from Lake Placid, either. It was a beautiful drive into the village. We had a large group, with a mix of adults and a lot children, but it was more than a comfortable fit. The bunk room is such a sweet touch. The girls loved staying all together in one room!!! The house is beautifully updated, but still cozy and inviting. The radiant floor heating is amazing! Nothing like warm feet after a long day of skiing in the cold. We LOVED the fireplace, too. The kitchen has everything you could need to prepare meals, and there is enough room so that everyone can help with the cooking. :) I cannot say enough good things about this place! It is beautiful, spacious, comfortable, and clean. We will definitely come back to Doe-A-Deer next year for the Winter Games. The kids are already talking about it! (TBH, so are the adults.)”

“The most memorable Christmas vacations at this Winter Wonderland!!!
Our family of 10 had the best vacations at this amazing Cabin. We were received by the owners family and were toured thru the cabin and all its amenities, they waited until late afternoon that we arrived from our drive from NYC.
The cabin is located in a great location, very quiet mountain neighborhood and very secure. Extremely clean and stylish place with everything we needed, its just the perfect vacation home! They even put up the Christmas tree for us! It was like a dream come true.
For the week this was our base camp for all activities we had planned. Just a short drive to the town of Wilmington, where theres a couple of nice cozy restaurants and home of Whiteface Mountain (you must go on the gondola ride). Then at a 25 min drive you have Lake Placid, we went there 4-5 times during our stay. This is a must! Good restaurants, I would highly recommend the Big Mountain Creperie and Eres Pizza. The views of the frozen lake mirror are amazing! One day we even took a day trip to Stowe, VT.
But everyday we came back to our base camp Doe-a-Deer, were we would all gather in the large sofa around the fireplace. They had tons of fire wood at our disposal. The kids would play board games from a huge amount that are provided. All the details were thought so that we would have the time of our lives! This living room is the MAIN attraction, with the fireplace and all glass windows overlooking to the woods. Sitting there and seeing the snow come down, was truly an experience we will never forget. All rooms were super clean, spacious and comfortable. The throws were amazing and always kept us warm. The heating system we didnt even touch as they had it set at a perfect temperature. Kitchen is very spacious and has all appliances you will need.
I would recommend this cabin to anyone that would like to have a memorable vacation. These are the best hosts, tremendously helpful, and always checking in on us regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. Even after our departure they called to inform us we left some items behind.
Would definitely stay here again. Id like to try in summer so we can go fishing in the nearby world-famous Au-Sable river.
PS Look out for the deers, you can see them from the windows, every morning walking around in the woods.”
