This includes Whiteface Mt. and Mt. Van Hoevenberg. These are just a few of the gems which will ensure that you will be able to take full advantage of all that the Adirondacks have to offer. And in the spring and summer experience the thrill of rafting the rapids on the Hudson River or enjoy the tranquility of fishing, kayaking or canoeing on the many lakes, rivers and streams that are available to you. There are many hiking trails for beginners and for those looking to be challenged. Check out North Creek Rafting Company, Adirondack Fly Fishing School and Beaver Brook Outfitters (5 minutes from the cabin) which has information regarding where to fish and maps for hiking. This is a great place for a family vacation. Located less than 30 minutes from Great Escape, water parks, beaches, bike trails, hiking and boating. The Adirondack Museum is about 40 minutes away. About Us: We bought the original cabin in 1998 and have since built two additions. Much labor and love have been put into making this a warm and cozy home away from home. We love every minute that we spend there and even lived there full-time for a year in 2012. It will be our pleasure to share this gem with others who we hope will enjoy being here as much as we do.
Why we think you will enjoy staying in Johnsburg: Anyone who enjoys mountains, lakes, streams, wildlife, outdoor activities or just natural beauty will fall in love with the Adirondack Park. For winter activities we are 7 minutes from Gore Mountain's access road. There's snow tubing at Little Gore in North Creek. Great cross country skiing at Garnet Hill which is about 25 minutes away. On a windy day you might choose to walk or snowshoe through the woods behind our cabin and then warm up in front of the fire.
Why our property is special: The cozy cabin is special because it's quiet, relaxing and nestled in trees. We had a bull moose walk down our driveway and many mornings the turkeys and deer (not at the same time) like to hang out in front of our living room windows. The wood stove has glass doors and it's easy to sit comfortably on the couch and watch the fire for hours. It's a great place to escape the hectic pace of today's world.

“It was a very nice cabin and exactly as spelled out in the description. It was clean and had been well kept, with everything we needed except bath towels. The only improvement I would suggest would be to trim the weeds directly around the cabin itself.”

“This is the second year my wife and I have enjoyed the cozy cabin in Johnsburg New York. Cozy cabin is definitely cozy with a woodstove and plenty of wood if you need it and two air conditioners if you need cooling. We have found the cabin to be very comfortable and well stocked with every pot or pan you could need. There is an attached screened in porch on which we have enjoyed quiet and peaceful breakfasts with a view of the surrounding woods. The kitchen cabinets are all labeled so that you do not have to search for anything. There is a reference manual that describes the operation of the cabin and the its equipment. The reference manual also contains information to obtain outside services if needed. As cell service can be a little spotty there is a landline phone available. My wife and I have truly enjoyed our stay at this very cozy cabin in the woods and look forward to taking our vacations there in the future. thoroughly enjoyed our time there.”

“I rented this cabin at the last minute to see the eclipse. Upon arrival we found a clean, cozy cabin with a wood stove that was just as described. The cabin was well organized and had everything you needed. The beds were comfortable. Hiking was close by and a beautiful picnic and dog park with pond and stocked trout stream were only 5 miles away in North Creek. We viewed the eclipse at Adirondack Lake in Indian Lake which was a 25 minute drive and had a first time totality while meeting some great people there. Susan, our host, was super sweet and gave me her number stating we could call her if we had any questions. Plus no increase in price of cabin for this extraordinary event!!!. And did I mention it was dog friendly! We had a wonderful time and want to thank Susan for sharing her home with us. We would definetly rent again.”

“We have stayed at the cozy cabin for 2 family visits to Gore Mountain. We love the convenience of this location and having a place a hop and a skip away to pop back over for a short lunch break or any other time we need. The cabin itself is quite small, but has all the living essentials and kitchen essentials to provide ease and comfort away from home. The office and the 1.5 baths again although small, covers just what you need to function with ease and comfort away from home. We find the small size allows the cabin to provide a great respite when needed but supports spending most of our trip outdoors, which is why we are there! The yard has a small creek that the kids love to explore and although the kids room is small for three, its situated well to fit whatever you might need for a short stay. The cabin has a true woodsy/outdoor feel and has been well cared for. When you stay there it doesnt feel like a rental, it truly feels like youre being well cared for in a lovingly built retreat home.”

“We had a great stay at the cozy cabin! Everything was perfect. We loved the wood stove, the layout, and location. The cabin was much larger than anticipated. Having 2 bathrooms was a definite plus. It was very clean and well stocked. The furniture and beds were very comfortable. The owner's finishing touches made it feel like home. Ideal place to stay for a Gore Mountain ski trip. It exceeded our expectations. We will definitely stay again!”

“My family spent a week at the cozy cabin in Johnsburg, New York, this August (2023). We found the cabin to be exactly as described. In addition to that in the cabin was a detailed folder describing the operations of the cabin, including disposal of garbage and recyclables. They were also detailed notes on all of the cabinets, indicating the contents, which was extremely helpful. The cabin was very comfortable with two air conditioners, which kept it cool on warm days. The property is private, quiet, but not isolated. We had a wonderful time and hope to enjoy this cabin again in the future.”

“My son and I stayed in the Cozy Cabin for three nights with our dogs during August. We were attending a family wedding nearby. The cabin was a comfortable air-conditioned refuge to return to after the celebrations. Everything was as described, spotless and well supplied with dishes, pots and pans and plenty of space. The beds were comfortable. We brought our own bedding and towels due to covid restrictions. One night I heard a loon just outside my bedroom window. The woods are lovely and green in August. There is thick undergrowth so not appropriate for walking, but we found trails not too far away. The stars were very striking, as there is no ambient light. The price is fair for the location and the owners are easy to communicate with. I highly recommend this listing.”

“The cabin had everything we needed. The bed and furniture were comfortable. We liked that there were 2 bathrooms (one with sink and toilet and the other with sink, toilet and shower). There are many games to play (for adults too) and books to read. The cabin is located in a quiet area. There are woods on the property. There were no trails in the woods, but we had fun exploring them one day anyway. There are many hiking trails in the area and Lake George is not far away. We would definitely rent the Cozy Cabin again. ”

“We had a very quiet time in the Cabin in the Woods. Fortunately, the owner was able to rent it to us on very short notice as our other vacation arrangements fell through. The place was very clean and tidy and the little screen porch was the perfect spot for our meals. The cabin had more than enough room for us and would have accommodated a family of four comfortably. We enjoyed the peace and quiet that this cabin offered.”

“I stayed in and much enjoyed the cabin surrounded by woods for a week this past February. The cabin is exactly as advertised, the owners are friendly and responsive. Everything in the cabin (wood stove, stove/oven, refrigerator, hot water heater/shower, washer/dryer, doors/windows, roof and, yes, even wifi) works as it should, and instructions are available and clear. The evening I arrived was just a day after one of the larger winter storms of the past season, and I found everything plowed and shoveled open, lights and heat were on and ready for me when I arrived. The cabin is convenient to Gore Mountain for skiers, Lake Algonquin and Lake Pleasant are just to the south via Rt. 8, the east branch of the Sacandaga River runs the length of Route 8 just south of the turnoff for Gore, and Route 8 to Wells has a number of trailheads available for those who want to hike; of course, to the west of the Sacandaga branch is the southern end of the Siamese Ponds Wilderness. Crane Mountain Trailhead, Garnet Lake and the Hudson River are also in the area. Plenty of the Adirondacks to explore, and a value for the price! And, I must add, it is obvious that the cabin is a much used and loved part of a family's history from the touches spread within and without. My pup and I enjoyed ourselves and hope to return.”

“This is truly a cozy, adorable, well-kept cabin surrounded by pretty woods. We found our stay here so restful. The cabin is small but still felt like there was plenty of room to spread out. It was very clean and clearly updated with fresh paint in all rooms with a very cabin-like atmosphere. The kitchen had everything needed to cook meals. The bathrooms were clean and updated. It was just a short distance to Gore where we cross country and down-hill skied. Our favorite aspect was the fabulous wood-burning stove with everything needed to build a warm fire each night where we played family games. The cushy recliner couch in front of the stove was a favorite spot for reading and naps and now we want one too! Our family will be happy to return to the cozy cabin-we hated to leave!”

“The "Cozy Cabin" was a quiet, charming little place in the woods. I smiled as soon as we pulled into the driveway. The cabin was clean and welcoming. All of the little "extras" were very thoughtful like the spices in the kitchen and the shared recipes. Everything was perfect and we enjoyed our short escape to the Adirondacks. The "Cozy Cabin" is a gem. Thank you for sharing it with us. We would certainly enjoy staying here again someday. ”

The cabin was clean and comfortable. Our stay was three weeks and after a few days it really felt like home. “During this, our fifth happy stay at the "cozy cabin," I was struck by all the little things the owners had thought to make available that we needed and wouldn't have had with us. Bandaids. Oil and vinegar. Plenty of towels and washcloths. Plenty of knives and cutting boards. Soap, toilet paper, paper towels. Not to mention the larger things: washer and dryer, decent mattress. This year we spent a lot of time this year at Garnet Lake--lovely boating and walking. ”

“We stayed at the cozy cabin the week after christmas for a few days to ski at Gore Mountain. It was my husband and I with our 2 boys, ages 4 and 6. The cabin is completely wonderful. Its small but laid out very well to feel like there is plenty of space for everyone. Its decor is adorable and really has the feel of a cabin in the woods. Even from the outside, its very appealing to look at. The master bedroom was great and nice to have a private master bath. There is also a walkin closet and office, both of which could definitely hold a pack and play if anyone was staying there with a younger child and looking for them to have their own space. The kitchen was small but serviceable and very well stocked. The living room was so cozy and decorated for christmas including lights and a small artificial tree, which was so nice bc our kids were disappointed to leave our christmas decorations behind to go on the trip. It has a wood stove (with plenty of wood) that is awesome, we loved sitting in front of it in the evenings. The 2nd bedroom is great for 2 kids, top bunk is a single and bottom is a double. Only thing to be aware of is the top bunk doesn't have a guard rail. Our older son was fine up there, but some might have been nervous. Both kids could have also slept in the bottom bunk if it was an issue. 2nd bathroom was small but fine and nice for the kids to have their own. The proximity to town and to Gore were awesome, very short easy drive. This cabin was also super reasonably priced in our opinion considering it was christmas/new years week, so that was really great too. Finally, the owner was a pleasure to deal with, even helping us look for a lost toy that might have been left behind after our trip. We will definitely go back!”

We really like the atmosphere of the cabin- It is very Cozy! The owners are easy to contact and very friendly. ”

“My husband and I have stayed in MANY cabins and homes over the last few years in the Gore Mountain area. I rarely remember to write reviews for the places we stay, but I felt compelled after staying at the "cozy cabin" to share what a wonderful experience it was. The owner's love and appreciation for their home is clear from the moment you walk in. This cabin was by far was the best kept and most clean than any other we've stayed in. I was so impressed with how well cared for this home is. The towels, sheets, and bedding were all extremely fresh and the kitchen was extremely well organized and clean. Not to say that other places I've stayed at are not clean, but there is often a sense of "this is definitely a rental" at the other homes. This was not the case this weekend and I truly felt like I was at home at "cozy cabin." From the beginning, the owner was warm and responsive to any questions I had. I HIGHLY recommend staying here. We also stayed at this home with another couple who also only had nice things to say. This will certainly be our first pick every time we go up and we need more than one bed. Thank you for opening up your home to us! ”

“This is an extremely comfortable, well located cabin which really did feel like a home away from home more than a rental the 5 nights we stayed there after Christmas to do some snowshoeing. There was obvious care taken in making sure the cabin was well supplied but with good space for personal gear. The glass door wood stove worked extremely well and we used it mornings and evenings not only for a little extra warmth but cheer. We would absolutely rent again in an instance. ”

“Cozy cabin was wonderful. Before we even set out for our trip the owner answered all of my questions in a very timely manner. When we arrived everything was as promised - a fire was even laid in the hearth. There were helpful hints posted all around to make our adjustment even easier. The bedrooms were very comfortable and roomy - my son loved the bunks. We had all we needed to cook all of our meals and when we did venture out we met some of the friendliest people. The area was beautiful - I did a lot of walking with my dog - plenty of room for exploring. We went to ski and were so happy with the location. The cabin is in a quiet area so we had a lot of privacy. The cabin was very clean. You can tell it is well loved. It also had two bathrooms and a washer/drier which was huge for our busy family. The owner communicated promptly and was wonderful to deal with. If you venture into North Creek, the nearby town Cafe Sarah makes a delicious cup of coffee and sits directly across from a beautiful mosaic mural that is in progress. “I was looking for a place to stay the end of June for a Birthday surprise for our son. We had planned a trip of white water rafting and the Adirondack Extreme Adventure Course, and being we are 'outdoors ' people we wanted the stay to also be 'up our ally'. We could not have been happier! Even our son who turned 11 on our stay was very excited and impressed with this cozy cabin. He begged to stay another week! Cozy and accommodating is an understatement!! If we did not have to return to our job's , I would have definitely tried to see if we could prolong our stay there. From breakfast on the back screened in porch, all the comforts of home [plus some] and just simply the location and surroundings, we could not have been happier! We would like to express our gratitude to the owners [and housekeeper] for sharing this beautiful property and the amazing maintenance. We would love to return for additional visits. Thank you so much for making our son's birthday accommodations something he will cherish forever! LOVE ,LOVE, LOVED this place!”

“We've stayed at the Cozy Cabin twice and hope to return. It's comfortable, well-organized, and easy to be in, and the area is spectacularly beautiful. We ate our meals on the screened porch. The cabin is under trees--which means there's no lawn or outdoor space to spend time in--but the porch makes up for that, and the trees keep the cabin cool in hot weather. There are plenty of hiking trails and ponds nearby, and swimming at Minerva Lake and Loon Lake. North Creek, a few miles away, has good restaurants, bakery, hardware store, liquor store, and a supermarket.”

“What a lovely, cozy cabin - we stayed here in February with 3 kids and had a fabulous time! I tried to pack everything we needed to make meals for 5 days, but whatever I forgot was there! The beds are most comfortable with the softest sheets I ever slept in :) There was a winter storm warning the day we moved in and it snowed all night, but that wood stove kept us super cozy and we watched movies until the snow almost hid our car! “We are a family of 5 so finding a well-priced home works far better for us than 2 hotel rooms. For this reason, we have stayed in lots of cabins and I have to say that the Cozy Cabin is the best overall experience we have ever had. We found the cabin last minute and Susan was quick with the responses and made the reservation process incredibly easy. Easy is obviously the them with the Cozy Cabin because everything from arrival to departure was so easy. When we arrived after a 4 hour drive and only wanted the warmth of the wood-burning stove we found that the stove had already been prepped and just needed a match. The stove, as well as everything else in the house, is very well marked so you know exactly how to work everything. The cabin is very thoughtfully stocked with everything from a waffle iron to one of every size tupperware container to kindling and wood for the stove. We've stayed in bigger and more luxurious places but we would take the Cozy Cabin over all of them any day. It has everything you need for a wonderful stay and because it is so Cozy, all 5 of us spent lots of time together which is why we get away in the first place.”

“My husband and I had the pleasure of renting the Cozy Cabin during the summer of "15. The location was remote enough to feel like you were getting away from it all but close enough to restaurants and other amenities in North Creek. The cabin itself was very clean and well stocked heck better than my own kitchen. I have rented other places and I always go with some standard equipment not expecting a sharp knife or a decent absorbent towel but NOT here. I honestly felt like we were the owners guests! Special bonus was the screened in porch where we ate all of our meals without interference from bugs. Our desire to return sometime in the near future says it all in our effort to secure a booking before they are hard to come by!”

“We have been renting cabins in the Adirondacks for many years and have never been so comfortable. We have experienced the place where the owner's beer filled the refrigerator, many places where there was only one comfortable chair, and many places where the pot lids didn't fit any of the pots. This unpretentious cabin was designed with simple good sense.and it was a pleasure to spend two weeks there. ”

“Our stay at the Cabin was for three nights. We thoroughly enjoyed our brief time there. The Cabin was very neat and clean. It is a very quiet area with little traffic. The home is well cared for and met all of our expectations. I would highly recommend this home.”

“A truly wonderful retreat. From the moment you step in the door you feel at home. The owners have done a wonderful job of creating an atmosphere that beckons you to forget the stresses of life. From the warmth of the wood stove and the cabin's woodwork to the Queen size bed that doesn't want to let you get up in the morning you can't find a better spot to get away from it all. The kitchen area has everything you need, just bring your food. Our son was more than comfortable in the second bedroom which has a double bed with an upper bunk. The reclining sofa and lap blankets made the perfect combination for an afternoon nap after skiing. The location is great as you are about 10 minutes from Gore Mountain where the skiing is amazing. The town of North Creek is just slightly further and here you can get your grocery needs. The owners are wonderful to deal with and for them to entrust us renters, with what is obviously a special place for them, means that we are the benefactors of some very hard work on their part. You can't help but want to take care of it as if it were your own. I can only say thank you to them for sharing this wonderful place and letting us call it home for a week. We will definitely be back. ”

“When we started looking for a place to spend a long ski weekend with our 3 teenage boys, we thought it would be really hard to find a place within our tight budget that would be more than just a house. Well, we definitely found it! This "Cozy Cabin" is perfect! It has everything promised and more. The pictures really DO NOT do it justice! When we walked in, the owners had left a fire already burning in the wood stove for us! It felt so warm and welcoming! My husband and I could not get over how clean and comfortable everything was. The kitchen was so well stocked with everything we needed. The owners were so accommodating and helpful. We all felt right at home immediately! We will definitely be going back!”

“We really enjoyed the cabin. The Cozy Cabin was everything that it was promised to be: a charming cabin in the woods, well equipped, very affordable, private, clean. Everything promised and much more. A very welcoming place! Susan and Jack made every effort to make us feel at home for ten days. “When looking online for a place to meet in upstate New York for a weekend of hiking and wilderness adventures the coxy cabin is the perfect place to stay. It is a wonderful location and feels like being home. The first thing you notice is how clean and well cared for everything is. You can tell the cabin is more than just a rental property' clearly this is a special place for the owners who graciously share it with whoever happens to find this place. The kitchen was stocked beyond our expectations and had everything we needed to prepare our meals. The cabin is located near many wonderful areas for hiking and being in the outdoors. Most of all we appreciated that the cozy cabin welcomed our most special guest our dog. We think she loved the cozy cabin more than we did. She even seemed sad on the day we were leaving. We could not have asked for a more special place to spend time together. We look forward to many more visit ahead through the years. Thank you!”

“We really enjoyed the cabin. It is a short drive to North Creek if you need the grocery store or pharmacy, yet it has the feeling of staying in the woods. My college age son enjoyed the second bedroom. The hostess's efforts to make us feel at home were evident. We would stay again if the opportunity arises.”

“This property is a true GEM!! Our family of 4 enjoyed every aspect of our stay here...this charming cabin was spotlessly clean, incredibly well-maintained, very comfortable, well equipped and provided plenty of space for us all. “ The "Cozy Cabin" was perfect for our family of four plus one dog. The cabin was well equipped right down to the newspaper and kindling to start a roaring fire in the wood burning stove. The location was an easy, quick drive to Gore mountain and very peaceful. The owners were very pleasant and quick to answer any questions. Would recommend the cabin for any season. ”

“We stayed in the cabin for 3 nights and it was amazing!!! The pictures dont do this charming, quaint, character filled cabin justice. It was a perfect place to get away from it all. Close to skiing, snowmobiling and other winter activities the location was perfect for us. We highly recommend this to all who are looking for a place to unwind, relax, and enjoy the outdoors. Thank you so much for your hospitality and will surely be back for years to come. Michael and Buket”

“LOVED this cabin! It was clean, comfortable, convenient and very welcoming. We spent three days skiing and snow shoeing and it was always a delight returning to our adorable little cabin each evening. The amenities were perfect- bed and bath linens, kitchen utensils, pots and pans, wood stove, etc. Susan was very helpful with information, and made registration easy and swift. I would highly recommend this cabin for anyone who loves the Adirondacks and the outdoors! ”
