Retreat to the peace, seclusion and serenity of the Adirondacks at our home on Friends Lake. This property puts you 300 feet from the shore of the quiet and private Friends Lake. Loons, osprey and occasional eagles can be seen fishing in this spring fed Lake.
The cabin sleeps 4 adults and 4 children comfortably. There are three bedrooms; 2 with queen sized beds, 1 with 2 sets of bunk beds. One of the bedrooms and a full bath are off of the great room. The master suite is upstairs with a …queen size bed, jack and jill bath and flat screen television. A beautiful sunroom is attached to the master bedroom; equipped with a futon and windows all around. The third bedroom provides 2 sets of bunk beds. The great room is equipped with ceiling fans, and the bedrooms have portable fans if needed. The great room is decorated in traditional adirondack decor with a beautiful stone fireplace. The kitchen is equipped with the basics.
We've just added high speed wireless Internet access so that you don't have to totally "unplug" while you are staying at our home.
Our home is part of an association and there is a large fire pit down by the lake for all to enjoy. One of our most enjoyable activities is star gazing at night down by the dock.
The cabin comes with a 12' rowboat and 2 kayaks. The rowboat is located at your shared dock and the kayaks are on the rack next to the lake. The shared private beach is a short walk from the house. A floating swim dock is also available for all to use.
Recreational opportunities in the area are endless; boating, swimming, fishing, hiking, mountain climbing, biking, white water rafting, rock climbing, etc. Circle B Ranch is a short drive/walk away from the house for great horseback riding. There are plenty of bass and panfish easily caught from the dock to thrill the young fisherman/woman in your family. Larger bass and northern pike are available in other parts of the lake.
The cabin is located at 24 Circle Drive, Chestertown, NY 12817. Both the cabin and the beach enjoy a full southern exposure. Main street Chestertown is just 2 miles away (just off exit 25 on the Northway) and has everything you need, grocery store, movie theater, restaurants, pubs, hardware store, post office, sporting goods, ice cream parlor, a health center for minor issues and a local fire department and first aid squad.

“My family has stayed at serenity camp for one week every summer for the last 4 years and weve already booked for next year. The house has everything you could need and many convenient features, like a shower with spray hose right by the entrance for when the kids swim until their lips are blue, and ductless A/C that cools the whole place during heat waves. The house feels like home, with comfortable furniture, and unlike other rentals it doesnt look or feel warn out and overused. The kitchen is small but has everything weve ever wanted to make meals. Our favorite part is of course the lake. The association beach seems to only be shared by a few houses and weve mostly had it all to ourselves. Same with the fire pit and floating dock. Its a quiet beach/dick area, and the lake is also relatively quiet, which is both peaceful and better for swimming and kayaking. Weve stayed at nearby lakes and been kept up by partiers. This isnt that kind of place, thankfully. The owners are friendly and always available to help with any issues. We truly love it here.”

“Had an incredible week staying at Serenity Camp! The cottage was immaculate and roomy - beds were soft and comfortable, eat-in kitchen was well stocked with plenty of cookware, spices and staples for convenience! Lovely deck on shady lot, beach short walk down the hill, lake beautiful and pristine! Location was amazing, close enough to activities but remote enough to enjoy the peace and beauty of the Adks. Will definitely book in the future. ”
Owner's Response
“Thank you so much Caroline! Having a guest like you that enjoyed our home and took care of it like it were your own is a blessing that we are most grateful for! We look forward to hosting you again.”

“Our stay at Friends Lake was very enjoyable. The house was clean and comfortable. It is attractively decorated with an Adirondack motif. The kitchen was very well stocked with a wide variety of cooking supplies and spices. The open floor plan of the kitchen, dining area, and living room provided plenty of room for us to interact with each other. The large deck just outside the living room was convenient for grilling and eating at the picnic table. The bedrooms had comfortable beds and direct access to the bathrooms. The sunroom next to the upstairs bedroom is a very nice spot to read and relax. The beach and dock are only a short distance away. There are Adirondack chairs, a picnic table, two kayaks, a row boat and a storage bin for life preservers/floats/ etc. Everything is very convenient. We would recommend staying at this Adirondack location.”

“I was very fortunate to stumble upon this gem over 10 years ago and have been making it an annual summer destination w/ my daughter ever since. We look forward to our highly anticipated week here every year - it never gets old. What a nice, comfortable, spacious, well furnished home for that cozy Adirondack feel. It seems every year there are additions to furnishings and amenities. It is the gift that keeps on giving. This home is well loved and well cared for. It has an awesome fireplace in the great room for those cool / chilly mornings or evenings and is the centerpiece of the home. The kitchen has everything you need but bring what makes you happy. There is a very nice gas grill on the deck and if you need it, a washer and dryer. This is not a little lake cabin, it is a real home complete with more than just the basics. The lake is great and it's a short 3 minute walk away. It is a private Lake and not very busy, particularly during the week. There is a nice dock, row boat and two great kayaks when you are not swimming or fishing. For those who fish - Bass, Pike, Perch, Catfish and Sunfish have all been pulled in from the dock and the beach but explore the lake, it is very manageable - especially by kayak. There are generally Loons about and you will hear them break the quiet of the evening / early morning which adds to the Adirondack ambiance and you will understand why they are called Loons. The neighbors are very nice and we have enjoyed getting to know them a little more with each passing year. Everyone respects each others privacy and you will find that if it is serenity you seek, it is serenity you will receive. The house is not far from the ADR Northway - we like to drive up thru Warrensberg. Close by are the market, restaurants & shops of Chestertown, Warrensburg and beyond. All of which will embrace you in that small town feel if that is what you enjoy. I have nothing but positives to share, we are always sad to leave and we are already looking forward to next year. I highly recommend.”

“The home suited our needs nicely for the week, since my son, his wife and two small daughters were visiting from out west. The layout worked well for privacy due to one bedroom down with a full bath and a second full bath up where there were 2 more bedrooms and a sun porch. So many of the rentals we researched did not have two full baths. It was a short walk to the beach and neighbors that we met were welcoming and friendly. Unfortunately our weather was rainy, but we made up for much of that by enjoying the great fireplace on a few of our cooler days. Kitchen area was tight with a minimal counter space. However, there was an abundant supply of all utensils that one needs for cooking, meal prep and dining. Bonus space for storage of bulky or larger items in the entry area where washer and dryer were located. The owners were very pleasant and easy to work with.”

“Fantastic property, nicely furnished, very comfortable for a family, and affordable. Washer & dryer made it easy to pack for the week. Convenient to shared lake front dock and beach area, and neighbors were very nice. Rowboat & kayaks for use on lake were great! Lake itself was clean & warm! Groceries, if needed, were just a 10 minute drive away. Restaurants within 10 - 15 minutes, and plenty of things to do nearby should weather be unfavorable. Owners prepared us well for our stay, and were just a phone call away should we need anything (we didn't). We plan to make this a yearly trip!”
Owner's Response
“Thanks Kent! So happy you enjoyed your stay. Look forward to hearing from you again for your next trip.”

“Friends Lake Retreat is a wonderful place to stay and have a relaxing time. My wife and kids love our stay at the lake house which was so exquisite and comfortable. The lake house is so unique in so many ways and the best part is that you feel peaceful. My kids enjoy the fishing and kayaking while we enjoy the mountain views and the woods. If anyone is planning a vacation, I would recommend visiting Friends Lake Retreat and you wouldn't regret it.”
