PEACEFUL LAKE RETREAT"LAKESIDE"

The Lakeside offers a peaceful, quiet and comfortable retreat plus private dock on the shore of Silver Lake in the town of Cranberry Lake. Our lake is blessed with only 18 property owners who have formed an Association to protect and maintain our special corner of the Adirondacks. All of the properties are on the southern end of the lake; the northern two-thirds of the shoreline are completely wild. The lake has 2 resident loons, three islands, and no motor boats.

The Lakeside is actuall …y three cabins rented as one unit. The main cabin has a Great Room with living, dining and kitchen areas plus one bedroom (double bed + twin bed) with bath. One side cabin is connected to the main cabin by a covered, screened-in breezeway/porch. It has a double bed plus bath and desk with internet hook-up. The other side cabin is just 15 feet away from the main cabin. It has a double bed, two twin bunk beds, and a bath with shower.

The Great Room in the main cabin is spacious and open with lots of room to spread out. On warm days the floor to ceiling windows allow the breezes off the lake to flow comfortably through. At the same time, it is a cozy space for enjoying a fire on a cool evening or a good read on a rainy day.

We have wonderful renters who return year after year, consider the cabins as their special summer retreat, and maintain the camp in excellent condition. We expect new renters to do likewise: enjoy the quiet and beauty of this special spot while here, and leave the cabins, the immediate area, the boats and waterfront in the same excellent condition found on arrival.

The kitchen is well stocked with dishes, utensils, silverware, pots and pans, etc. There is a basic outdoor grill and a pit for campfires. Each bedroom has its own bathroom with shower. Heaters in bedrooms and bathrooms and portable fans provide comfort on cool or hot days. We have a collection of books, puzzles and games. There is no TV. Firewood can be purchased in town.

The spring-fed lake has good fishing, deliciously cool swimming, beautiful sunsets and both sunny and shady spots by the dock for enjoying the lake front. Renters have the use of a row boat, kayak, and canoe. If you also enjoy more lively boating activities, the (much) larger Cranberry Lake has a marina and public launching site and lots of area for motor boat fun and explorations.

Right out the door is a hiking path that goes around Silver Lake, and just across Route 3 there is access to longer hiking trails around Cranberry Lake. Within walking distance, the town center has a public swimming beach with life guard, a library, tennis courts and playground, small general store, laundromat, a restaurant with bar, coffee shop and ice cream stand. The State Camp Ground at the end of Lone Pine Road (see map) has a beach available to day visitors with a wonderful view of Cranberry Lake. The campsite also is the access point to Bear Mountain, a small mountain with a trail suitable for young families with a great view, from the top, of Cranberry Lake.
