Cozy, private cottage with a sandy beach, directly on the lake. The view is spectacular -looks out at 2 islands and "forever wild" land across pristine Paradox Lake - and usually includes a beautiful sunset each evening.
For sleeping, one bedroom has a Queen, the other bedroom has a trundle bed (that becomes 2 twins if necessary) and a bunk bed. The sofa in the living room is a queen size pullout.
Wonderful place for a couple, 2 couples or a family. NOT a "party place", rather an ideal …location for people who love swimming, boating, hiking, kayaking, and an evening glass of wine on the porch watching the colors of the sky as the sun goes down behind the mountains.
Paradox Lake is a real Adirondack gem. It is quieter than Schroon Lake or Lake George, with much of the lake being state land. It is perfect for exploring with canoes or kayaks (although motor boats are allowed) and the fishing is great, for both beginners and experienced anglers.
The cottage is also cozy during the "shoulder seasons" of June, September and October, since it is insulated and heated.
The water is from a well.

“My husband and I stayed at the Sunset Cottage for a 5 day Fall getaway - wonderful stay. Cottage furnished nicely, kitchen cabinets had plenty of cooking tools/utensils. The days of our stay were mostly sunny and warm, however, the one day it was rainy, the covered, screened-in porch was a wonderful place to enjoy the outside, listen to the rain, and enjoy the views of the lake and countryside. Campfire lakeside at night was wonderful; enjoyed canoeing the lake, as well as, its inlet to the lake. Fall colors from the cottage were wonderful of the surrounding hills. Quiet and peaceful place to recharge your batteries. Would totally recommend this enjoyable cottage and the host was very friendly, helping, and pleasant. ”

“My wife and 6-year old twins just returned from a one-week stay at Sunset Cottage. Every bit as lovely as advertised. A cozy, well-appointed cabin. Beautiful dining area and porch! We made good use of the 4 boats provided - row boat, canoe, kayak and peddle boat. Some tired kids! Easy row or paddle out to two small islands described where we picnicked and let kids swim and explore. 10-minute drive to Schroon Lake for provisions and a relaxed hour drive to high peaks if one was inclined (we were). But best days were those without an agenda relaxing in/by the cottage and lake. If you like an early morning run, there is also nice 5-mile out and back loop to a small waterfall. Ask Gretchen for directions. Hardly any traffic on the back roads and if there is, all travel slowly (and wave!). The screened in porch is huge! The kids had all their books, games and puzzles out on one side with room to spare for sitting all about. I think there were 7 or 8 chairs out there. Beautiful view too. Only regret was a one week stay. We could easily have idled another. Go for it - you'll enjoy. ”

“Cottage is very clean and equipped with everything you might need to enjoy your week at the lake. There is only a house on one side, vacant lot on other. Rowboat, canoe, kayak and paddleboat with life jackets are all ready when you are. Just bring your groceries, charcoal, sheets and towels. Board games, books and dishtv are already there. Screened porch is awesome! WiFi is available at the Schroon Library. (Just go in and ask for a WiFi code) Tops grocery store is in Schroon Lake(less then 10 miles) Wal-Mart is in Ticonderoga (12 miles). The weather for the 1st four days was awesome, the last 3 days was cold and wet. I wish we had packed more warm clothes. We had a great time. Thanks you Gretchen and Owners. ”

“Our stay at this property was a dream. The location is beautiful and peaceful, just the right setting for a relaxing family vacation. At night, after a day spent kayaking, strolling or fishing, we would put our infant to bed and sit out on the deck--the jewel of the house--admiring the views of Paradox Lake in the moonlight. We were constantly delighted at how well the house is maintained and administered by the owners/rental agent--all the equipment/tools in the basement are clearly marked, the kayaks, paddleboat and rowboat ready to go out on the water, every last detail considered. The house itself is charmingly decorated and thoughtfully stocked with books on the Adirondacks, board games, etc. All in all, highly recommended--we would go back in a heartbeat! ”
