“This cottage at Oak Hill Way is stunning, expansive, oh so comfortable and worked nearly perfectly for us (70 and 68), our daughter and son-in-law and granddaughters, 3 & 5 yrs old. We loved how roomy it was, well appointed, attractive and well stocked with all the needed kitchen tools and appliances. The approach can be a bit daunting - a rather steep, gravel driveway that was easily managed with our Prius. (If the Prius can do it, any car can.) We parked three vehicles easily. At the entrance to the cottage is a small open porch with comfortable chairs leading to a slightly larger screened porch, leading to the front door. There is also a door from the screened porch to the wide wrap-around deck which is also accessed from the cottage proper. The deck has no stairs and so it's a perfectly enclosed outside area where the girls could romp with little adult supervision. The cottage, as I wrote, is stunning, immaculate and roomy. The big dining table could easily have seated more than we six. The kitchen, dining and living room areas are open to one another and there's lots of comfortable seating. The kitchen has all the modern appliances and is well stocked with cleaning supplies. The main floor has a bedroom and a full bath and the lower area has two bedrooms and another full bath. There is a loft area with more comfortable seating and a play area and TV (that we didn't use, so I can't comment on it). It was a rather hot week but the cottage had central air that was almost too good. Paddle fans help as well. There is a fire pit that worked great for evening campfires. There is a small dock in excellent condition. There were two kayaks and a rowboat. The beach is rather minimal with stones at the waters edge, about 15ft wide sandy bottom then giving way to a muddy, weedy bottom and then gaining some depth quickly. It wasn't far to swim past the weeds into clear water. The lake is beautiful and quite serene given the restrictions on jet ski and limited motorboat use. Our entire week here we only saw a couple of motorboats as we kayaked and canoed about. A quarter mile from the dock is a lovely, tiny island that's great for swimming. We don't fish but saw what I think were pike of impressive size. There are apparently other fish species as well. We saw one loon, cormorants, ducks, heron, woodpeckers, mink and one bald eagle! Oh, and lots of deer, be careful driving at dawn or dusk, especially. Our only beef was that the mattresses were softer than we prefer. Everybody has different likes, they may be just fine for you. The last thing I would like to say is how much we appreciated the owner. Perhaps I should have led by saying that she did a great job of answering our questions, and keeping in touch while we were here to be sure we had everything we needed (while not being the least bit intrusive). Thanks so much, we had a wonderful week! ”

“Modern, well kept property. Beautiful view and peaceful. We enjoyed the location as we were able to travel to Lake Placid, Ausable Chasm, Vt. and many other areas. We will come again!”

“Renter Beware! The owner will keep part of your security deposit. We left the bathrooms cleaner than we found them, yet the owner said that the cleaning crew supposedly said that we left the bathrooms dirty and they charged us $125. ”
