“A wooded paradise with a lake view property and beautiful out door fireplace. The house was sparkling clean and gave plenty of room for the whole family. We loved the gigantic family room fireplace and comfy couches where we all played games and chatted about our day on this beautiful property. I highly recommend this lake front property for anybody who wants a beautiful getaway with the family or spouse any time in the spring , summer or fall. The breathtaking views watching the sunrise and set on the adriondack chairs on the porch are worth the trip alone. If you add in the hiking, boating and picturesque views of the lake from the property you wont want to leave. The owners are wonderful, kind people who were very accessible and accommodated all our needs. A definite 5 plus star rating!!!”

“What a breathtaking place! My family and I were looking for a traditional great camp with lake frontage so that we could enjoy all the benefits the Long Lake has to offer! Upon arrival, we were blown away by the scenery, the traditional interior and exterior, and the relaxed atmosphere. From fires at the Lean-to, to grilling on the Barbecue, enjoyed breakfast in the screened in porch, kayaking, paddle-boarding and boating - it was an outdoor paradise. Long Lake is a very cool place - definitely a wonderful getaway!”

“Camp Kee-O-Nekh is a rustic wonderland. It will put you back in time to a place of relaxation and serenity. For us, the lean-to and fire pit were wonderful features. We brought a few of our own kayaks and canoes and had a great time on the water in the early mornings and evenings when the water is calm, the surroundings are super quiet and peaceful, and the fish are more eager to bite. The real highlight is simply the opportunity to spend quality time with family and Kee-O-Nekh had everything we needed to make it a great visit. Hikes to scenic overlooks followed by ice cream in town were enjoyed by all. The camp owners were very responsive and great to work with too. This was an all-around wonderful experience.”

“Bill - we enjoyed having you at the camp and hope to have you back again soon!”

“This is the third year that we have rented this camp. It is beautiful and rustic. There is plenty of room for our 3 grown children, their spouses, our three grandchildren and us. There is so much to do at the camp and in the area that we never hear the dreaded words, "I'm bored" !! The only time the TV went on was one rainy morning. There are games and puzzles to keep everyone busy on the occasional rainy day We bring our own kayaks and a paddle board but there are boats at the boat dock and plenty of floaty things for swimming fun. The kitchen is well- equipped and roomy. There are paper goods and plastic wrap and tin foil. We had to buy more napkins and coffee filters but that was all. The bedrooms are cute and they all have fans. The living room is fabulous! Birch bark wall covering and a monster fireplace added to the rustic atmosphere. My favorite spot is the huge front porch where we all enjoyed breakfast, lunch and cocktails. In the evening the adults enjoyed dinners in the screened porch at the end . Bug-free and cool and breezy. We cooked a lot at the lean-to and gathered there after dinner to toast marshmallows and enjoy the loons calling on the lake. It was really the most popular spot on the property for all of us. It is an adventure to drive down the road to the camp, but go slowly and enjoy the giant trees and boulders in the woods. I am a birder and over three years have seen or heard over 50 species at Kee-Oh-Nekh and on lake paddles nearby. This place is truly a gem for anyone who loves being outdoors and on the water.”

“Jeanne - we are so glad that you and your family continue to enjoy the camp. As for wildlife, we have seen many birds especially earlier in the day - there is a bald eagle, a large woodpecker and three loons that live nearby. So happy to share this special place with you all!”

“This is the first time we had a family vacation and I couldnt have picked a better location. The pictures of the camp do not do it justice. It is spacious and quaint. The 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms were perfect for my children and grandchildren. Long Lake is beautiful and we happen to be there for the 4th of July and the fireworks were remarkable. My grandchildren really enjoyed swimming by the dock and we could see them from the front porch, so there was no need to worry. I would recommend this rental and I hope to rent this again myself in the future.”

“Thanks Dawn you guys were great guests! Have a great rest of summer and let us know if you plan to rent next year!”

“Camp Kee-O-Nekh is an authentic Adirondack camp perfectly located on Long Lake midway between Old Forge and Lake Placid. As a group of seven (two couples and three singles) we had plenty of room in this spacious five bedroom, three bath camp. There is a fully equipped kitchen with an incomparable pantry. The enormous living room with a huge fireplace (plenty of wood provided) was comfortable with plenty of seating for everyone. The huge porch overlooking the lake is perfect for observing the lake activities and just sitting around with a glass of wine discussing the events of the day. We kayaked, fished, and swam- and for me, best of all was watching the loons as they passed by diving for fish and calling each other. We found plenty to do in the area- a farmer's market in Saranac Lake, plenty of restaurants in and around Long Lake, the Olympic Museum in Lake Placid as well as the Adirondack Experience in Blue Mountain Lake and the Wild Center- a natural history center in Tupper Lake with its new Wild Walk- an elevated trail through the treetops. We all had a wonderful time and have recommended the camp to all of our friends. Thanks to the owners for a very special vacation!”

“Camp Kee-O-Nekh is an example of a well-kept, historic great camps. The owners have chosen to retain much of the original tree bark logs and birch bark walls. In addition, there are five spacious bedrooms, a sleeping loft, and gorgeous porches! There is a screened in porch that is perfect for breakfast or dinner - and a lean-to that is sure to make for magical evenings spent cooking food on a real campfire, followed by S'Mores. This is a wonderful place for an extended family group. ”

“Camp Kee-oh-Nekh is a peaceful, tranquil family retreat - the kind that comes along once in a lifetime! With Birch Bark walls, and incredible Adirondack charm, it's the perfect place for a vacation! We enjoyed the views from the Lean-to, the front porch, the screened in porch, and the new swimming docks. In addition we docked our boat in the covered dock. The owners are wonderful too!”

“We spent a wonderful week in this lovely historic house. There were a lot of us, but there was so much space, we were never crowded. The pictures do not do this house justice - it was really quite grand, and full of Adirondack treasures: art, books, furniture. The screen porch was great for dinners (though the light was a little dim, and we always had to add candles to see what we were eating!), and the very large dining room stood in well when the weather wasn't cooperating. The beds were very comfortable, and there were ample bathrooms. The huge front porch was great for sitting around with drinks before dinner (though we could have used a couple more Adirondack chairs), and the lake provided great swimming and sailing. We had a 1-1/2 yr old with us who found entering the water no problem. The owners were easy to deal with, and we would recommend a stay here most heartily.”
Owner's Response
“Thanks so much for your review! The porch light is a lantern and it is as atmospheric as it is charming (but we will check the bulb just in case!). We are so glad you enjoyed the house! For next time, there are additional Adirondack chairs (the brown ones) on the patio next to the porch to bring up as needed. So glad you enjoyed your stay!! -- Julia & Mat”

“Our family rented this as a large group so that we could vacation together as a family. When we arrived, the house had so much 'good karma' and was even better than we imagined. We swam, kayaked, canoed, and rented a motor boat from the local marina to use for a couple of days. To say that this place is magical is an understatement. This will go down as one of our favorite vacations of all time.”

“My family and our extended family rented this camp for a family reunion. The pictures do not do this camp justice. This is a charming, vintage camp, with five bedrooms - two queen beds, and then three bedrooms with two twins each, plus a family room area with two extra beds (and a few more as well!). We arrived into the parking lot after driving down their charming, incredible road through a primordial Adirondack-type birch forest. Every detail here is charming and breath - taking. The walls in the great room and dining room are made of REAL birch bark. The bathrooms are adorable, charming bedspreads and rugs adorn the place (the photos on this site are out of date). The front porch looks out over the incredible Long Lake. The lean-to has a table to seat 10 - and boasts the best view in the place. A covered dock stands with two kayaks, a metal guide boat, and is ready for your boat to pull right up (or you can rent one from the Long Lake local marina and pull it right in.). This is a Great Camp vintage turn of the century 1900s - there is a wood shed, a laundry/tool shed and a water shed (with all the paddles, life jackets and water 'stuff' you could ever need). This camp is a magical, incredible 'place' with 'good karma' as the owners and their predecessors say. You won't be disappointed and you will be sad to leave it!”
