“Beautiful home! The pictures do not do it justice. We rented this home with 2 other couples and enjoyed our time skiing at Gore Mountain and XC skiing at Garnet hill. We enjoyed relaxing in the home during the evenings with the warm wood stove. The kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals. The home with extremely clean! We will definitely be back.”

“My family had the distinct pleasure of renting this perfect Adirondack cabin for an Autumn vacation. What we got greatly exceeded our expectations. My sister and I, coming in from Western North Carolina, had been planning our Adirondack get-away for over a month. 3 days before we were scheduled to depart, our housing reservations (through another company) were cancelled. We found this rental through a mutual friend. Even with the pace of a last-minute request, Mr. Bazil was kind and attentive, seeing to every detail. The cabin was clean and well maintained. There was something there for each one of us. My Dad found the library, a comfy chair, and the woodstove. My Mom sketched on the deck early in the morning with a hot cup of coffee. My sister, her husband, my nephew, and I took the kayaks and canoe out on the lake at first light and were swooned by loons in the fog. The water was like glass. Never have I seen such perfect reflections! We ate dinner around the table, laughing until the wee hours. For 4 days and 3 nights this was home and everything about this cabin, it's amenities, it's location, created much-needed respite. There were 6 of us but the cabin can comfortably sleep 8. It has 3 bathrooms, one on each floor. The Garnet Hill Inn, with its extensive cross country ski trails, hiking, and mountain biking is a very short drive up the hill. My Dad says, "be sure to schedule dessert night there." It is also within a reasonable drive to both the Wild Center and the Adirondack Museum, both of which we visited. For another vacation to this area, this rental is definitely our first choice and I have already recommended it to friends. ”

“We had a fantastic time! The cabin was a huge hit and the accommodations were impeccable. We'll be back next year. It was a true ADK weekend filled with trout, salmon, black bear, bald eagles, deer and we're pretty sure we heard a large moose early Saturday morning along the east shoreline just south of the private beach. House was even closer to the lake than expected which was a nice surprise. Loved the private setting a top the mountain and the stargazing from the deck at night was amazing. Great experience - we'll be looking to book again next year!!”

“The Bazil cabin was cozy, well-equipped and will forever hold awesome memories for our group of friends. From the cute welcome card/wine to fantastically fitting decor, this place is great for getting away from the city and reconnecting with the nature. We were all blown away upon arrival to find a hammock, a wood swing and a fire pit in the garden in addition to the large collection of utensils and spices in the kitchen! Not to mention that the no motor boat Thirteenth Lake water was beautiful, clean, serene, and refreshing, and there is just so much to do around the area: swimming, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, horseback riding & plenty more. Lake George is only 40 mins drive away and easily accessible. Even when it rains you can chill indoors with plenty of games/movies and the strong internet signal is a definite plus for those who need to check work emails every now and then. You can do laundry as well if need be. Do I need to go on? Everything was readily available and in the best condition possible. This rental truly has everything you'll need and beyond for your stay and I highly recommend it! Don't forget to read through the guest book for activity ideas/inspirations and it definitely contains some hilarious posts. Thank you so much Ted and Claudia for your hospitality, your continuous efforts and passion into assisting guests like us have the vacation of a lifetime! We look forward to booking this cabin again next time we are in the area! Ella (Labor Day weekend 2014) ”

“The Bazil House exceeded far past expectations and the pictures on this site do not do it justice, quiet and serene exterior with a cozy cabin interior provided a perfect getaway. Not pictured but one of our favorite features is the large fire pit area behind the house. Private beach is not a bad walk but would recommend to drive down if you are taking beach supplies. The house is incredibly well supplied and really can fit 12 with ease. Our group had an amazing time and your cabin provided us with a relaxing weekend that was just what the doctor ordered. The backdrop is gorgeous and the amenities were great. Thank you for your hospitality, I look forward to telling my family and friends about the experience we had at Bazil house.”

“This camp is an absolute jewel!! No detail missed and an exquisitely private location. Our entire party (of 12) could do nothing but rave about this property for our entire stay. It was just what we all needed. From the extensive book collection many of us enjoyed, to the beautiful fire-pit area, to the private beaches postcard-like view, this was a true vacation and an a complete joy of an experience. Thank you so much! ”

“We three families shared this wonderful cabin for three months this winter. We typically had 4 adults and 6 teenagers here per weekend and the house worked perfectly for all of us. We all came to feel so at home here. From the idyllic location to the tasteful decor, the well-stocked staples in the pantry, the luxurious towels, ample blankets, to the cozy wood-burning stoves, and helpful caretakers, we leave the Bazil's cabin feeling fulfilled with our ski season and tremendously grateful for their hospitality. Congratulations on an operation splendidly run! ”

“We have rented the Bazil cabin both in the winter and the summer seasons, and we keep coming back. The area offers abundant outdoor activities. The privately situated cozy cabin has walk-on access to Garnet Hill cross country in the winter, and well-marked forest hiking trails in warmer weather. I recommend visiting and eating at the Garnet hill Lodge, which is under new upscale ownership. Gore Mountain is only 15 minutes away with some of the best downhill conditions you'll find in the east. Hudson River rafting companies are only a few minutes away, and the secluded 13th Lake is unique in that no motorboats or surrounding development are allowed. It is so peaceful and tranquil to go for a canoe or kayak ride (provided by the owners) or relax on the beach. The cabin is furnished in warm Adirondack style and provides a great layout on 3 floors with 3 separate bathrooms - we always feel like there is plenty of privacy for our entire group. This home has everything you need for any length of stay, and it is meticulously maintained by its attentive owners; I have never stayed in a cleaner rental home! Additionally, a caretaker is always available, and there are no extra fees attached to the rental. We love relaxing after a day of rafting on the deck or screened in porch, and there is a nice big lawn with a fire pit and charming rocker swing. It is truly a beautiful and comfortable home in a wonderful setting, and every time we return it feels like coming home.”

“This is a lovely cabin in the woods. The Garnet Hill neighborhood is very charming but you should definitely have a four wheel drive if you visit in the winter as the roads are hilly and snow covered. The cabin is very cozy and well appointed. The kitchen was very well stocked and there is plenty of comfortable seating on the main level. We did miss having a wood burning fireplace on the main level and could not figure out how to operate the wood stove which would have not given the same cozy aesthetic as a fireplace in any case. We also missed having a TV on the main level as we were four adults and five kids so being confined to one TV was difficult in the evenings. The bedrooms and bathrooms were ample and comfortable. The sleeping arrangements are generous and there are plenty of sheets, towels, pillows and blankets. The owners were a pleasure to deal with and could not have been more accommodating. We had a minor problem with the plumbing which was immediately addressed by the owner contacting the local caretaker. It was convenient to Gore as well as the town of North River. We would definitely consider staying here again. ”

“Thanks for the perfectly-equipped, beautiful cabin, which accommodated every need of an exigent, three-generational swarm of guests. Amid devotees of dawn fishing, sand-castle building, garnet hunting, trail walking, board gaming, gas-grill cookery and video surfing, we elders were delighted to be simply canoeing once again on a quiet Adirondack lake. ”

“I just wanted to thank you and your wife for letting us stay in your wonderful cabin last week. We havent gotten away together as an entire family in a long time and the Adirondacks and your chalet was the perfect setting. We really appreciate not only all of the information you had provided prior to arrival but all of the amenities stocked during our stay as well. We were able to cook full delicious meals every night and all we needed was the food! The beach, lake, trails, wildlife and surrounding areas were all beautiful. We had heard there were a few black bear sightings right on Harvey Road the week prior but didnt see anything for ourselves. The Schmidts hope to be back very soon!”
