Located adjacent to the Owl Head Lookout and Giant Mountain Trailhead on 9N between Keene Valley and Elizabethtown, our family's cabin in the mountains gives you all the comforts of home with quick access to climbing, hiking, skiing, and fishing for daytime activities.

Owl's He …ad is a secluded and picturesque place to vacation, with a mountain-fed stream flowing behind the cabin. Sited on forty acres of pine and birch forest adjacent to the Giant Mountain Wilderness Forest, there is much to explore right outside your back door.

After the day's activities, cook in the cabin's well equipped kitchen or dine out at the warm and friendly Baxter Mountain Tavern, just minutes away. Delicious prepared meals are available from Cedar Run Bakery in Keene.

The cabin sleeps up to 5 persons. There is one ground-floor level bedroom with a queen bed, and one upstairs loft with a queen bed and a twin daybed. On the porch in Summer and Fall is a full size futon sofa. The bathroom with full size shower (no tub) is on ground-floor level.

The compact but full-featured kitchen includes a full-sized fridge, dishwasher, microwave and gas range. On the South side of the house, there is a screened-in porch that opens to the deck overlooking the stream below.

Winters are warm and cozy in the fully winterized and heated cottage that also includes a woodstove with firewood provided.

With the Owl Head Lookout and Giant trailhead next door, Hurricane just down the road, and Whiteface Mountain 30 minutes away, the mountains and ponds of the High Peaks are right out your front door.

“The perfect place to stay for our ADK hiking and snowshoe adventures. Cabin is well stocked and "kitted-out", warm and cozy in winter weather, and we felt like guests in a friend's home. Setting is stunning and quiet, yet close enough to roads to get anywhere in the High Peaks quickly. We'll be back...”

“Just back from our 5th stay at this cozy cottage. Perfect location for exploring the high peaks. Hike right into the Giant Mountain Wilderness, or have someone drop you off at the roaring brook falls trailhead and hike to the cabin in time for dinner. Enjoy the screened porch in the summer and the woodstove in the winter. A hammock and a firepit by a cold mountain brook, stargazing from the deck at night. Clean, comfortable, and close to lots of great lesser known trails. Avoid the weekend crowds and get some solitude with your high peaks views! Our home away from home in the Adirondacks.”

“This is a fantastic place to stay! Easy access to Elizabethtown stores and various hiking trailheads, yet tucked in and private. Very much enjoyed relaxing (sometimes sleeping) on the screened-in porch and campfires by the stream. Owner was friendly and responsive when making arrangements. The most important question is: would I stay there again? Absolutely!”
