This traditional boat access only Adirondack camp is located right on the water's edge (no road access). It is on the Saranac Chain, just around a bend from Oseetah Lake. Oseetah lake is a haven for a wide variety of bird life including loons, great blue herons, bald eagles, and osprey. The Saranac chain connects five lakes that are accessible by powerboat, canoe, or kayak. These lakes are Middle and Lower Saranac, Kiwassa, Oseetah, and Lake Flower in the Village of Saranac Lake. The area is sur …rounded by mountains and offers some of the best fishing and boating in the Adirondacks. There is great hiking nearby in the High Peaks, as well as many smaller hikes around the lakes. It is only a short drive to the Olympic village of Lake Placid, with numerous golf courses and other attractions.
The property itself is located on one acre of wooded land with over 250 feet of shoreline on a beautiful private site. The camp is made up of two buildings. The main cabin faces the lake and sits just 20 feet back from the high water mark. There is a large deep-water dock directly below the camp. The main building is a log camp built around 1940. It contains approximately 750 square feet of living space, which includes a large open room with big windows overlooking the lake. This main building also has a kitchen and bedroom containing a full size bed with a bathroom attached. There is an electric stove and refrigerator in the kitchen. The main camp has full electric heat with two thermostats. There is a large deck attached to the main camp overlooking the lake. The second building or "sleeping cabin" has two bedrooms, one facing the lake with a full size bed and one smaller bedroom in the rear with two twin beds. This second cabin also has a bathroom. Outside this cabin is a hot outdoor shower (there is no indoor shower). Between the two buildings you can sleep six comfortably. Both camps have electricity and hot water. The water comes from the lake via a deep well jet pump. The running water is for washing and showers, but not for drinking. There is a large supply of drinking water at the camp. We installed a new fire pit in 2020 and there is a large supply of firewood onsite, please do not bring any firewood (and the insects it can carry) with you to camp. The property is fully equipped, furnished, and ready for you to enjoy.
The camp does not rent with a boat. If you bring your boat, there is a public launch in Saranac Lake that is about three miles downstream from the camp. There is also a launch on Route 3 coming from Tupper Lake. From this launch, you will approach the camp from above the lower locks. Boat rentals are available in Saranac Lake. If you are a paddler we can transport you and your boats up to camp at check in. Note: this is a great camp for boating and swimming, but may not be suitable for small children given its steep terrain and proximity to the water.

“What a special week at Cedar Rock Camp! Our family of 5 had a fabulous time for our summer vacation. I particularly enjoyed sitting out on the dock while enjoying my morning cup of tea or my evening glass of wine. The kids (ages 12-14) loved the fishing right off of the dock, and caught some nice fish right there! We all loved paddling around the area, and boating through the lochs. Island exploring and cliff jumping which were just a short boat ride away were highlights for our family. My husband and youngest son are avid and serious fishermen, and they were very pleased with the variety, size, and number of fish they caught. The camp had just what we needed for our adventure - a small but clean kitchen, large tables for us to play cards on, and oh what a view from the large windows! We ate several meals outside on the deck, which was lovely too. We appreciated having the gas grill to cook our fish dinners outside! We enjoyed touring nearby Lake Placid and had fun with the olympic tourist events. The owners were fabulous to work with, as they provided great detail both via email and in person upon arrival. We would highly recommend this rental location for a group/family that loves the outdoors and new adventures. ”

“ As summer is approaching we are having memories from the glorious, life-restoring weekend in the Adirondacks last year. I wanted to write to say how perfect it was to stay at Cedar Rock Camp. Easy to become fond of the place! The endless number of trails leading to spectacular vistas, swimming right from the dock, boating through the locks, fishing, picnicking on secluded islands, and several eagle sightings made for daily adventures. We had everything we needed! The cabin was stocked well. The turn-key style made it so easy for us. You have the best location, rustic cabin and sweet little town with friendly folks. Hope to get out there again soon! ”
