About Us: After many years of camping and exploring the Adirondack region, Bill & Christina chose to build their dream vacation home in Green Mansions because of its ideal location and tranquil setting. They are proud of their home, as well as the community and enjoy being able to offer both to you.
Why we think you will enjoy staying in Chestertown: Our home is on the border of Warrensburg and Chestertown. Both towns offer great local dining, shopping, small town charm and convenient access to all the major roads that traverse the Adirondack Park. Great central location for activities from the Glens Falls / Lake George / Gore Mountain / Schroon Lake areas as well as day trips to the areas of Lake Placid and Vermont.
Why our property is special: Our home offers the unique combination of convenience to major roads, yet sits in an area where there is no road noise, in a development that offers an uncrowded, friendly atmosphere where you can enjoy the lake, its beach, tennis & pickleball courts, and scenic beauty.

“My family had the opportunity for a last minute getaway to the Adirondacks at Christmas time. The cabin was located in a beautiful area that was peaceful and tranquil; yet close to many activities such as shopping, hiking, tubing, and snowboarding. We are a family of 6, everyone being adults and we had more than enough room during our stay. The cabin is even nicer than the pictures portray online. Then owners are very responsive and provide great information about their cabin, local activities and dining. Thank-you for a wonderful stay; I would definitely rent this property in the future and recommend to others :) ”

“We really enjoyed our stay at the cabin. The home was clean, beautiful, and comfortable. The owners were really responsive and accommodating. They recommended fun seasonal activities such as the Fall Harvest festival at Gore Mountain and hiking Prospect mountain which was perfect for my family. The kids enjoyed making smores in the fire ring out in the back yard. We will definitely come back!”

“We absolutely loved our stay at The Rose! The house was beautiful, quiet and private. It was fully stocked with anything we might have needed. We loved the private beach and access to boats for fishing, boating and kayaking. We have stayed in many places over the years and this is our favorite. ”

“My favorite family vacation!! My husband, three small kids and I stayed at the cabin in July and we absolutely loved how quiet the area was. The kids loved visiting the private lake, Tripp Lake everyday and swimming, chasing frogs, butterflies and fish for hours. We especially loved making smores by the fire-pit at night. We had another family of four stay with us for a couple of days and the cabin was perfect in accommodating all of us. Additionally, the cabin was very clean both inside and out, as was the lake. Bill was a pleasure to work with to boot. Our children loved the cabin decor of bears and nature. We thoroughly appreciated Bill's dining suggestions around the area, he knows where to find good food and a good beer. While we were staying at the cabin we were already discussing when can we visit again; surely annually. Thanks Bill and Christine!”
Owner's Response
“HI Julie, thanks so much for the review and kind words. Some of our fondest memories are also the time we have spent with family and friends around the fire pit. We are so happy to hear about nice families like yours making the same memories and we look forward to having you back !”

“The owners: "The Rose" was perfect! My wife, three small kids and I stayed at this lovely cabin for a week and loved every moment of our vacation. The owners Bill and Christina were incredibly helpful and responded to our inquiries quickly, kindly and effectively. The guides that the owners have in the house: where to eat, what to do in winter, summer, restaurants etc. were all spot on and we took their suggestions and were always very pleased. The Cabin: The cabin itself is in a wonderful location: it sits in the woods away from it all but close enough to whatever one would seek on an Adirondack vacation. We took advantage of the fire pit from the moment we pulled up to the cabin on day one until our last evening under the stars. My family and I were able to completely slow down and enjoy sitting by the fire watching the amazing starts above, something that my kids have never seen in that abundance. Each aspect of the cabin is excellent! The main area and kitchen are incredibly inviting and comfortable as are the upstairs deck off of the family room. The master bedroom was perfect as well as the room with bunk beds and the adjacent bedroom. The basement was perfect as a hangout for the kids and a door to the outside to enjoy horseshoes and nature watching. The bathrooms were great and clean as was the rest of the cabin. The Lake: This was such a treat!! We knew there was a lake going into the vacation however Tripp Lake was far superior to what we could have imagined. It was gorgeous, clean, scenic and provided our family from young to old with smiles all day long. There are excellent kayaks, canoes and rowboats to use free with the stay. Additionally my boys 6 and 4 caught tons of fish! All-in-all, this vacation was 100% perfect and we will absolutely be headed back annually to enjoy The Rose. The Negatives:1. I think I've grown addicted to bacon from Oscar's Butcher and I long for it daily! (Go there daily!!!) 2. I spend too much time on Google now looking for a cabin to buy or build as my family and I fell in love with the ADK's! Rent this property, you will not be dissappointed. Thanks Bill and Christina!!”
Owner's Response
“Chris, thanks so much for taking the time to post your review and for the very kind words about our home. Like you, we initially rented homes or camped and also fell in love with the area. Our search for the perfect home and area was painstakingly long but it seems like it's a perfect fit not only for us, but also for our guests. We look forward to having you back and perhaps being ADK neighbors in the future !”

“Perfect location!! We had never rented in this area before and it was awesome, everything we wanted to do was 20 to 30 minutes away which was ideal. The pictures of the cabin don't do it justice, it is absolutely beautiful and very spacious. The decorations and set up make this a comfortable, versatile rental. We enjoyed cooking on the grill and kitchen, eating at the big dining room table, dancing to the sirrus radio, enjoying coffee on the deck and some adult beverages by the fire. Our short get away was extremely relaxing and enjoyable, none of us wanted to leave - and all of us can't wait to go back! Thanks Bill for having us - our best rental to date! ”

“We had such a wonderful time staying at the Rose. So relaxing. Everything you need is there. Bill is a wonderful host and provided great info our stay and recommendations for the area. We spent time in Chestertown, Warrensburg, Lake George and the surrounding area. I think my favorite thing was buying steaks from Oscar's and grilling out on the deck. Thanks so much! I hope we get back there again soon.”

“Bill, It's been 6 years since we vacationed at the Rose and we loved all the upgrades that you made since then. From the covered porch, the new deck, the new grill, the hand made table and chairs and especially the horse shoe stops so we didn't have to go looking for stray shoes in the woods. Also can't forget the Sirius radio which was my favorite update. We plan on coming up again next year and having another great vacation. Thanks again. Joe Mikulewicz ”

“What a terrific house! Peaceful and quiet. The # of people staying at the house varied during the week from 7 to 4. We never felt on top of each other, or crowed. The house is in a wonderful location. Off the beaten path, but within a short driving distance to Warrensburg, Chestertown and Lake George. We went to the beach at Tripp Lake 2 times during the week. It was relaxing and not crowded at all. We went to Ausable Chasm, did whitewater rafting with Beaver Brook Outfitters (recommendation from Bill, and it was awesome!!!) and drove the Prospect Mountain Veterans Memorial Highway. The week ended with our daughter and her boyfriend getting engaged on the top on Mount Marcy. We ventured into Lake George a few times. Had dinner at George Henry's in Warrensburg and Cooper's Cave Ale Company in Glens Falls (both at Bill's suggestion). Both were delicious. Otherwise we enjoyed dinner at home. The kitchen was well stocked. We enjoyed the horseshoes, and a few nights around the fire. We have rented houses over the years in different states, and this was the first time the owner of the house actually called us the first night to make sure everything was OK. I would definitely recommend this rental to family and friends. Hopefully we'll be back!!!!! ”

“What a great place! Our family (2 adults, three year old twins and a 5 yr old) had a great time at the Rose. We also had my parents and friends stay throughout the week (still had room for more)Everyone agreed what a gorgeous home in an amazing area. The house and area was beautiful, peaceful and quiet. The beach was PERFECT. It was very clean and for being 4th of July you never felt crowded. Some highlights for us were we really liked having a master bath with guests there, bottle openers everywhere, Sirius radio, all the kitchen tools you need, the "hook game". The kids loved all the bears! Most of all - The location was amazing! 5 min to Chestertown, barely 10 to warrensburg, 20 to lake George (pack a lot of quarters for parking), about 20 to Schroon lake and about 25 to lake Luzerne. These were the spots we ventured off to. Bill was extremely speedy in responses and provided great suggestions. Much appreciated! Just had to mention some spots we enjoyed -In Chestertown - Stewart mountain with kids - beautiful view! If you have littles this was a great hike. The Main Street ice cream shop is a super cool building with a lot of history that had great sundaes. Had a delicious dinner at george Henry's in Warrensburg. Looks like a family diner but serving ahi tuna! Watched fireworks in Schroon lake. Nice show. Looked like a pretty cute town to explore if we had the time. We rode the adirondac at shoreline cruises in lake George. Really relaxing and stunning scenery. We tried a lazy river float in lake Luzerne - tubby tubes. Besides my life jacket being a little musty it was fun! We made a lot of great memories this past week and we have already talked about coming back to the Rose again! Thanks Bill & family for sharing your Adirondack home! ”

“We had great time at The Rose. The home is exactly, if not better, than advertised on this site. Nice, cozy log cabin situated in the woods offered all we needed during our stay. We were on our annual ski trip to Gore Mountain, which is just 30 min away, and this has been so far the best accommodation we had in the region. I can just imagine how nice stay at The Rose would be during the summer season based on its location and amenities it has to offer. Owners, Bill and Christine, had been very accommodating and understanding to our situation for which we are very thankful. Prompt responses and respect for renters is what puts the owners above many others. Hope to return in future. ”

Jotul free standing fireplace is a great addition to radiant heating. Owner mentioned that cell signal is poor but that is what we wanted, kids not using electronics alot. Wifi and landline was provided incase of emergency.”

“Beautiful full-log cabin cottage with ample accommodations and modern conveniences. Very private setting yet convenient to activities and shopping. Good-sized second floor deck facing out on on dense woods. Clean and comfortable-a genuinely nice place to serve as a base for day trips or for just lounging around. Our group really enjoyed it.”

“This was our 2nd visit to The Rose as English visitors after our first stay 7 years ago it wasnt before time either! We already had certain expectations of what to expect from our stay and to be honest I just dont know where to start because everything was absolutely magical and any description that I could try to put into words would just not do justice to all our feelings and wonderful experiences...!!! We stayed at the cabin with my wife; 6-year old twin boys and my wifes Dad and Stepmom. Like ourselves, Dad and Stepmom absolutely fell in love with the cabin and the area and he even said that he slept better here than he does at home in his own bed..!! In fact, the sheer silence at night was amazing in its own right. Also every time we went out to either go just for a walk or see/do something the boys kept on asking when are we going back to the cabin...!!. What an endorsement...! The setting and location of the cabin is perfect and we spent many a cold October night cooking on the barbeque and putting the world to right around the firepit. Oh and dont forget the wonderful selection of Winter Ales that were perfect for consuming around an open fire. In fact, because of the cooler weather we actually managed to put the log fire on a few nights which provided a fantastic warmth and feel to the whole of the cabin. A truly magical experience. We found that a number of activities in the area were closed due to the fact that we were a little in-between seasons i.e. after summer and not full winter; but this didnt stop us visiting Lake George and the surrounding area; Fort Ticonderoga; Lake Placid; Saratoga Springs; Ballston Spa (my U.S. families home town); 6 Flags Park for a fantastic indoor water boarding experience for my twins; etc. and many more wonderful places. In fact, we even had a snow fall of 5 which my boys absolutely loved and allowed them to make a big snowman; something that we have not had for over 3 years at home.! Well now onto the cabin which provided a fantastic home-from-home experience for all of us. The layout of the cabin with its 1st floor master bedroom and ensuite facilities was perfect for the in-laws and the main floor bedrooms which were located next to each other and included an adjacent main bathroom was perfect for us and our privacies. The kitchen is equipped to a fantastic level and we lacked nothing when we stayed in and cooked. The boys loved having the basement area to watch TV or to just have time-out to themselves. In fact, they were so desperate to see a bear that they spent a lot of time looking through the glass doors into the forest. The Rose was our base for seeing my U.S. family again and for the boys to meet their great aunties; great uncles; second cousins; etc. for the first time which was priceless. But I can safely say that The Rose made our stay extra special and made our Adirondack experience complete. To say we didnt want to come home was a massive understatement and we all had massive sicky feelings in our tummies. Perhaps 2017 will somehow manage to drag us back again for another visit. Until the next time keep the logs stocked up and the barbeque ready.”
Owner's Response
“Scott, It was so great to host you and your family again and I'm so happy that our home continues to exceed your expectations. Knowing that your family has found such comfort so far from home is a great feeling for me and my family. I look forward to continuing to host you for visits with your American family members.”

“We just returned home from spending two weeks in the Adirondack mountains , The Rose was our first weeks rental and it was PERFECT!! Our family of 8 totally enjoyed our stay , the multiple levels of living space are a great feature since my oldest is 28 and youngest is 12, we all had an area to be together and our privacy when needed. My husband and sons loved playing golf in the morning. loved the horseshoes ( lots of tournaments took place)and we all loved the beach and kayaking lifeguards are really nice and everyone is super friendly! It is so nice to just be able to pack a cooler and just go, the beach has chairs and umbrellas all set up for your use! After a long day its also nice to come home and hang by the fire, this cabin is very private, loved my morning coffee on the beautiful deck! The owners have thought of everything I enjoyed preparing dinners in the fully stocked kitchen you will need nothing outside your own sheets and towels! You are a quick 15 minute ride to all the excitement in Lake George Village! Thank you again for opening up your home to us, we look forward to renting again! ”

“Our family just returned from a relaxing and peaceful week at "The Rose". We are a family of 5 with a 16 year old, 19 year old and 22 year old. This house more than met our needs. The house is part of a community but has the added appeal of feeling away from it all due to it's private, wooded location. We enjoyed late night campfires and playing horseshoes in the horseshoe pit. The accommodations were comfortable and well maintained. The kitchen was equipped with all the necessities, with nothing lacking for the nights we cooked and ate at home. The expansive windows in the living/dining room area let in the morning sun and helped us start our day in a peaceful frame of mind. Early morning tea and coffee on the deck was one of my favorite parts of the vacation, with the sounds of birds and the aromatic smell of pine needles in the air. We spent 2 mornings at the association beach, kayaking around Tripp Lake. We also enjoyed the tennis courts on several occasions. There are so many things to do within a half hour's drive of the house. We rented a boat and toured Lake George, went on several hikes, explored Fort William Henry, and Ticonderoga. We are very thankful that we came upon this wonderful rental and will treasure the memories for many years to come. The house is definitely a jewel. Thank you for sharing it with us!”

This is a great place to unwind and really relax. The golf course was great for our 14 year old and the beach was perfect. Laundry was close by so that was easy too! “We have rented many cabins in years past and this cabin did not disappoint. We had an amazing time staying here over the new years weekend and it was great way to ring in 2016 away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The cabin was just as described and the seclusion in the woods made for a perfect relaxing weekend with friends. We will definitely be returning in years to come and look forward to exploring the cabin in other season as well. Thank you Bill for sharing your home with us and had such a great time! ”

“The fact that we have stayed at this beautiful log home every year since 2006 speaks for itself! We have enjoyed this rental in all seasons, and in the company of both family and friends, and we have never been disappointed. The Rose is a newer log home that can easily accommodate guests of all ages and the three bathrooms (one on each floor) is a great feature. Everyone has his/her own comfortable bed (and the kids love the bunk bed!). The place is spotless and we found, in looking at other rentals, the rates are extremely reasonable for the size and location of the home. When we stay there, we are close to our favorite places, Lake George and Schroon Lake, and it is an hour from Lake Placid and the Saratoga Race track. 'Lots to do and the restaurants in these areas are the best! With Tripp Lake down the street and all the available amenities at Green Mansions, there are many activities in the immediate area, too. If you just want to relax and forget about your stressful job, you will find a much needed escape from the office: you can grab a good book, sit on the porch or deck, bask in the peace and tranquility of the pine-scented air, and not hear a sound all day except the birds and the wind. Nothing decompresses you like sitting around a fire at night either! The house is secluded, yet you will see people from the nearby homes walking their dogs and hiking. The Rose has the best of both worlds: it's remote, yet near other people, and minutes from the Green Mansions amenities and Tripp Lake. Bottom Line: you can either relax at The Rose and take in the beautiful scenery or you can venture out into the mountain activities and, in both cases, you will create lasting memories for you, your family, and your friends.”

“My husband and I have rented many owner operated vacation rentals and have never been disappointed - this was no exception. Value, proximity to Gore & of course the accommodations = Five stars!!! The Rose exceeded our expectations in comfort and size. We spent the weekend with two other families - a total of 6 adults and 4 children with ample room for all. Adults spend most of the time in great room/kitchen area with kids hanging out in the lower walk out level. The house was clean, well appointed and very well maintained. Bill, the owner, was always just a phone call away if we needed anything, which we did not. Despite the many local attractions and eateries Bill informed us of, we chose to relax back at the Rose for all of our apres ski. (Gore was only a quick 20-30 minutes door to door.) We had a fabulous weekend. Thank you Bill (and your family) for giving us the opportunity to stay at your home. We loved it, and hope to come back next year. Cheers Ausra and Curt.”

“What an awesome weekend at The Rose! This quaint log cabin is conveniently located off of Route 9, with easy access to the shops in Chestertown and Gore Mountain. Our trip was during ski season, and we had a great time hitting the slopes only 15 minutes away. We had excellent dinner in town, thanks to the recommendations made by the owners. The owners were extremely helpful and easy to work with. They helped our family plan some of our trip and all of their recommendations were spot on. We were able to reach them at any time with our questions during our stay, whether it was regarding the cabin itself or nearby sites of interest. The log cabin was a wintry oasis-- tucked away in the mountains, with a cozy fireplace in the living room, with spacious bedrooms and bathrooms for all of our guests (there were 6 of us comfortably enjoying our stay on one weekend-- we certainly could have comfortably fit more!). We are looking forward to returning in the summer and checking out the lake and nearby parks. We definitely got our "bang for our buck" and would recommend this to our friends and family in a heartbeat. Thank you for having us-- we can't wait to come back!”

“The experience staying at this cabin was exceptional and very comfortable. I've been renting cabins off and on and this will be the one on the list for renting back. The owner is courteous and helpful with quick response to your questions. We needed a getaway from busy work life and this cabin met all our needs. We were two families with a 2 yr old and 6 yr old, everyone enjoyed the stay at this lovely cabin. Definitely recommend to check out Luck E star and George Henry's, both are top notch restaurants. Do check with Bill on other recommendations. ”

“My family rented this cabin two years ago and we loved it. Very quiet and private. It is also close to the beach. The trees surrounding the property kept the house nice and cool. In the late afternoon we saw deer in the backyard. We are looking forward to spending another summer at this cabin again! ”
Owner's Response
“Thanks Nora, we are so happy you enjoyed your stay and are choosing to return. We look forward to hosting you again this summer.”

“We have stayed several times at "The Rose" because it has so many nice features. The home has plenty of space for more than one family staying together. Our children loved playing at the beach area just a short distance down the road. We spent almost every evening at the firepit, enjoying smores and also had fun playing horseshoes. The cabin's location is convenient to Lake George and its activities, but also has a secluded setting. We are looking forward to our next stay at "The Rose."”

“We have had an amazing time staying at The Rose. It's a beautiful log cabin with plenty of space for two families. Very comfortable space. A big living room in the basement for the kids where they could have their own space. Kitchen and bathrooms nice and clean. We enjoyed the fire place every night after skiing. Only 1/2 hour from Gore mountain. Owners super friendly and easy to communicate with. The only thing missing was a whisk! (maybe hidden somewhere, hi hi ha) We recommend this cabin and we would definitely come back! Big thanks!”
Owner's Response
“Agneta, thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience. We are so glad that we were able to provide you with the clean and comfortable space you were looking for. There should be a whisk somewhere in the kitchen. If not, we will replace it during our next visit. We look forward to offering the home again for your next Adirondack vacation.”

“This house is awesome!!!! When we pulled into the driveway, we knew we had made a good decision picking this house! Upon entering the house, we were amazed at the height of the ceilings and the view out of the front windows. Our party totaled six adults, and there was plenty of room. The view from the windows and deck are overlooking a wooded area and there was plenty of privacy. The deck was spacious and beautiful. We were extremely impressed with the cleanliness of the house and the hospitality of the owners. Not only did they leave us a delicious beverage in the fridge, they also called the day after we arrived to make sure everything was suitable to our needs and to see if we had any questions. The loft was amazing and the basement is finished with two very, very comfortable couches. If you are looking for a cozy Adirondack getaway in a modern/rustic log home, this is a great bet! One of the downstairs bedrooms is a little less awesome than the other two bedrooms, but the couple that drew the short straw made it work and were pleased with their stay. Let me just say, it wasn't bad; it was just a less awesome! The house is about 15-20 minutes from Gore Mountain, and it was an easy drive there, even in a pretty serious snowstorm. The gas woodstove also kept the place extremely warm and cozy. I really loved this house. We are actually considering building the same model after staying here. I will definitely rent this house again, especially in the winter! Thanks Bill for the wonderful vacation and the beautiful house! Bill ”

“We rented Bill's cabin over New Year's Eve. Bill is easy to work with, answering all questions along the way. The house was clean and very comfortable. The wood stove works great on cold nights. Skiing at Gore Mountain is a quick ride 20 minutes down the road. ”
Owner's Response
“Thanks for the kind words Heather, we are so glad you enjoyed your stay and hope you choose our home when you return to the area.”

“We had a great time in the house. It is a very quiet spot and the house offers almost everything that is needed. We liked the deck, the grill, the fire pit and the beach. The only remark we have is the lack of a washing machine and dryer. The machines at the laundromat are cold water machines and out of date. ”
Owner's Response
“Jack, thanks for the review and we are glad you enjoyed the home. We went back and forth with the addition of a laundry room in the basement and decided that a full bathroom would be more useful for the renters. I will mention the need to upgrade the washing machines to the association.”

“My family met my parents, who flew in from Florida, at The Rose for a fantastic week in July. We were delighted with the property; it exceeds the pictures in its size and loveliness. Some of the features the photos miss include the private location; the cleared grassy area, great for frisbee and catch; the horseshoe pit just under the deck with its own lights; the gorgeous bathrooms (best fixtures ever); and the overall "newness" feeling it has. At first we thought having to drive to the beach association would be a drag, but the beach is literally one minute away and driving there is so much easier than lugging all your beach gear. Plus, the little drive is worth the privacy of the location! My only tiny grumble was that we had to do laundry off site. Overall, we loved the Rose and we still talk about that fabulous week! We would definitely book this beautiful cabin over the several others we've tried in the past.”
Owner's Response
“Hi Hollie, thanks so much for the kind words. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay and we'd love to have you back. I couldn't agree more with the beach location, for us it is ideal to be able to be there in a blink and still have the peace and quiet of the home's location. We regret not being able to include the laundry access in the house but we felt that adding the full bathroom in the basement would be more useful for renters, especially since the the association has the laundramat on site.”

“We stayed at this beautiful log home at the end of August. The house still feels new and is well designed, nicely decorated and well equipped. It is also very private and yet only about a 3 minute drive from a great condo association beach (entrance to the beach is included with the rental) which offers complimentary chairs, large umbrellas, kids' sand castle building equipment and complimentary non-motorized water sports. The lake it self is fairly small but is great for swimming, boating and even fishing. We travel extensively and would not hesitate recommending this very fine home or staying there again. ”
Owner's Response
“Max, thanks for the nice review and for taking good care of our home during your stay. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay there and hope we can accomodate you again sometime.”
