“My wife and I spent a very relaxing week at the Red Loon. We had the pleasure of meeting the owners on our arrival who gave us a tour of the property. The house is as advertised, and is absolutely the perfect lakeside cabin. It has enough room for several families. We spent our days down by the lake fishing and boating, and our evenings by the fire. We used the pedal boat and the rowboat several times. The cabin is located at the end of a quiet cove and often we were the only people on the lake. There are 3 brewerys within 1/2 hrs drive and shopping is 20min away. We really enjoyed our week and look forward to our next trip to the Red Loon !”

“We just got back from the Red Loon and we couldnt have asked for a better place to stay. The owners were extremely helpful and responsive. Anything we needed, they took care of right away. Their home was beautiful and we are so lucky they shared it with us! We had beautiful weather all week. Our dog swam most of the week and we actually got in the water one day! We didnt think wed be doing that in September. The home was perfect for the 6 of us and our dog. The view is beautiful. They had a washer and dryer which was great!! We enjoyed the vacation so much and we are already talking about heading back to The Red Loon! Thank you so much! ”

“ My wife Susan and I had a great experience at The Red Loon. The rental process was easy and the communication with the owners was excellent. The cabin is in a beautiful spot; Loon Lake is quintessential Adirondacks. The lake is exceptionally beautiful and this property sits near the end of a truly beautiful cove. The house itself worked really well for us. Bear in mind - it's not super modern with lots of light. But it has functional interior space and works well if you have family visiting. The kitchen is well-equipped. The primary bedroom is comfortable with a great window view. And there are three other bedrooms with an assortment of beds. Down the spiral staircase, there's a family room with a satellite TV and a screened-in porch. But the deck on the upper level is where we spent some of our best times.....it was good for grilling, eating and reading. One night, we laid out a blanket and watched the stars. The view of the dock below is memorable - and the dock itself has a lot to offer. There's a canoe, pedal boat, rowboat and paddle board. The paddles for some of these craft are so-so - but bottom line, there are many ways to get out on the water. And we loved the raft - a great place to sunbathe and hang-out. There's also a really good fire pit near the water - which proved to us that s'mores can indeed be a complete meal. Overall, we'd highly recommend The Red Loon. It gives you a lot of bang for the buck and in many ways, leaves you feeling like you had a restful vacation. ”

“Nine of us, 5 of whom were between ages3 and 14, had a terrific week staying at the Red Loon. This house is nicely laid out, had plenty of room for everyone, although the one bedroom with the 2 bunk bed sets was a little tight (the kids did not mind!), very clean and nicely stocked with everything we needed for cooking meals, etc. Access to the water is great. The dock and float were perfect for the kids who spent all day diving and swimming back and forth between the two. There is a canoe, paddle board and row boat so no lack of things to keep everyone busy. The fire pit with a gravel surround and plenty of lawn chairs was a great way to end the day with a fire and smores. All in all an idyllic week at the Red Loon! Highly recommended.”

“We had a great week at The Red Loon. The house and bathrooms were clean. The beds were comfortable and two of the bedrooms were very spacious. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, utensils, pots and pans. It was warm during our stay so having the grill for outdoor cooking was appreciated. We spent many hours at the waterfront. The dock was deep enough to dive off and many trips were made to the raft by swimmers and boaters. Our young grandchildren really enjoyed rides in the paddleboat and longer excursions in the canoe to explore the lake. All communication with the owners was met with prompt replies and the security deposit was returned promptly after our stay. Thank you for sharing your property.”

“My family and I had a very quiet and nice vacation at the Red Loon. It was the perfect place to "unplug" and enjoy the sound of water lapping onto the side of the boat, the call of the loons and the sound of nature. The house had plenty of room and was very clean. We enjoyed the rowboat and the canoe but didn't try the paddleboat. We paddled around the lake and were surprised to see a beautiful view of one of the high peaks. We enjoyed hanging out on the dock watching the ducks, ducklings, loons, and fish. The drive into Saranac Lake and Lake Placid was easy and enjoyable. We would stay at the Red Loon again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a pleasurable get-away. ”

“We LOVED the Red Loon! This was the perfect house for our two-family vacation week. The house supplied everything we needed and then some! On the rainy evenings, which were minimal, we utilized the downstairs game room which was perfect for playing cards and bumper pool but we spent most of our time on the lake either in the rowboat, paddle boat, or canoe. We could not have asked for a better house and we are looking forward to our next stay at the Red Loon! Thanks for sharing your piece of heaven with us! ”

“What a beautiful place on a quiet and peaceful lake; The cabin is very comfortable with many sleeping rooms, two bathrooms and a large kitchen and dining room. Plenty of space to hang out: by the lake, near the water, by the fire pit, on the screening porch, by the deck... We had a blast ! Such a wonderful lake for swimming, boating, canoeing... and we could even admire fireworks on the lake on the fourth of July! ”

“We had a great week at the Red Loon. The house is plenty big for large groups. The bed rooms are very nice, esp. the master bedroom (the room with 2 single beds and the one with 4 (bunked) beds are packet tight, but fine.) The deck is wonderful anytime of day and you fell like you are in a tree house. The property is sloped so the back of the house is quite high up. Our older family members had to watch there step on the gravel and wood chip paths around the house and to the lake (probably not a good property for anyone with mobility issues). The location is beautiful and peaceful. It was good that we had to drive a few minutes to get a cell signal... that way we didn't check it every day and we really relaxed! We planned and brought supplies for most of our meals and then went to Saranac Lake 2 evenings for dinners and to check email and messages. It is a little under 30 min, to drive to Saranac Lake and there are a lot of good restaurants there. The kitchens is great and has lots of utensils, but the oven was old and not great for baking (I think the temperature was off -- some things burned). It was fine for cooking dinner, though; we just kept an eye on the food. We had a little rain, but only for part of some days. There were lots of games, books, and the great bumper pool table for those rainy times. We went out in the canoe and our kayaks every day and saw loons and other birds. The lake water is crystal clear and wonderful for swimming. Our son had fun catching fish in the row boat. There were great places to walk nearby and the roads are very quite for walking, too (a few trucks now and then.) We hope to come back and if so, hope to find more information on finding the trails that lead up the mountains surrounding Loon Lake. We found the trail up Crusher Mountain (very close to the house), but could not find the other trail heads mentioned in the area.”

“We are almost hesitant to write this review because we would love to keep this Gem for ourselves but that would be selfish and unfair to all who want the perfect getaway. This is our 4th return to Loon Lake and of the four, this was the very best by far. A few words to describe the Red Loon, is cozy, charming, quaint, spacious, comfortable, extremely well decorated, amenities galore, right on the water, private, etc, etc. By far our best relaxation vacation ever. The owners were polite and gracious! We WILL return. You won't be disappointed with this beautiful home! Enjoy your stay.”
