“We stayed here during the renowned beautiful fall color of the Adirondacks. It is a perfectly, warm, clean, well equipped, comfortable and peaceful cottage. It is suitable for families or a romantic getaway for couples. Gorgeous, private, sand beach with comfortable outdoor chairs and a nice outside fireplace and a supply of wood. We enjoyed the canoe and kayak trips on quiet and safe Lake Abanakee. The cottage has a modern smart TCL television with satellite and apps (need yr password). We truly enjoyed our stay and look forward to staying again. The hosts were very gracious and informative. Thank You! Highly recommended for a classic ADK experience. Look no further! ”

“This was our 22nd year at this same cottage. We absolutely love it here. The cottage has the most beautiful view of the lake with the mountains. The loons call every day as teach their babies how to fish. The osprey fly over every day. We fish. We canoe. We explore creeks. We swim. All of this right from the cottage. The two bedrooms and the loft is perfect for our family of 4 plus an overnight visit from friends. The kitchen has big windows that look out over the lake. It is a short drive to our favorite adventures nearby where we explore waterfalls, climb mountains, visit the ADK Museum, and more. We highly recommend this cottage to anyone who enjoys the ADK experience.”

“My wife and I have been staying at this camp for many years now. For us it is a perfect place to relax and appreciate the natural beauty of the lake and views from the camp. Our hosts are gracious. They are right next door if we need anything, but we feel like we have our own private lakefront paradise. The private sandy beach is perfect for swimming and launching small boats like canoes or kayaks. There are very few motorboats on the lake, which adds to the sense of being in the wilderness. The camp is clean and very comfortable. We especially like the comfortable recliner chairs. Love listening to the loons as we watch passing weather and ripples and sometimes waves on the lake. We will be back again next year. ”

“We just returned from our 17th visit at Rustic Roost. Such a peaceful and relaxing setting! The cozy, clean cottage, right on the beach provides picturesque views of the mountains and lake. You can kayak, fish, hike or just relax on the beach with a good book and watch the loons swim past. It's a great place for kids too. The loft in the cottage and the sandy beach is perfect for the little ones. Our kids loved it and still come back after all these years when time allows. Lots of activities in nearby towns as well. Hoss' Store in Long Lake, the Adirondack Experience Museum on Blue Mountain and one we recently discovered is the railbiking out of North Creek with Revolution Rail. All lots of fun! The owners are great and very accommodating. You can't go wrong with this great little slice of the Adirondacks!!”

“My husband and I stayed here Sept 2-9, 2023. We had a wonderful time! The house is extremely clean and very comfortable. The owners are close by if you need them but it is very private. The living room has a beautiful view of the lake and is just like home, very comfortable. There are recliners, couches and chairs so everyone is happy. The kitchen is very nice and also has the beautiful view of the lake. We went boating every day. They have row boats and kayaks. We took the kayaks out every day and found adventures in every direction. There are waterfalls and water ways you can explore. And if you are into birds, we saw egrets, herons, eagles (at least 4), loons and many other birds. They also supply life jackets in many sizes. We also went swimming. the lake is very nice and they maintain the sandy beach so it is really a pleasure. There is a grill outside by the picnic table. There is also a fire ring to enjoy in the evening. In the mornings we would get up and walk around the neighborhood and the local streets. One extremely nice feature which I never thought about in booking a place is they have a back-up generator. One evening we had a thunderstorm and it knocked the power out of 24 hours. It only took about one minute for the generator to kick in. All the food we brought with us stayed fresh and refrigerated. We definitely would go back again. The owners are lovely and a pleasure to talk to! It is their family home and can tell you a lot about the area if you ask. It was a pleasant vacation and you leave there with a sense of peace and relaxation. ”

“We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely little cottage right on the lake! The views from the living room and kitchen were so peaceful. The location is perfect and close to area attractions and hiking trails. The bed was comfortable, but note that it is a double bed. The kitchen was well equipped, the cottage was warm and cozy. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful, but they respected our privacy. I would definitely come back and I would recommend this cottage to friends. It rained several of the days we were there, but we managed to hike or boat every day but one. On the advice of our lovely hostess, we visited the Adirondack Museum one rainy day. Wow, it was one of the highlights of our visit! And I'm not really a museum person. The history of the area was presented in an interesting and informative way, spread over many buildings and sites. We visited the Great Camp Sagamore, which was pretty interesting. Don't waste your time on the Scenic Adirondack Railroad, it was slow, boring and you didn't have time to explore the village before reboarding and heading back. The top speed is 20 mph, and the ride is not that scenic. There was no cafe car, as advertised. Possibly it was a bad time of the year. ”
