This rustic log cabin was built in 1932. It was originally built as The Old Wheel restaurant and still has some of the birch tables and benches that was used for the guests. It was used as a family camp until the early 90's. The Torrance's decided to start renting it so other people could enjoy the beauty of this cabin.
Inside, the cabin has a huge living room/dining room, kitchen, bathroom and two bedrooms. The kitchen has a full size stove, refrigerator and coffee maker. The living room has … a wood stove inserted in the fireplace and three futons. One bedroom has a queen size bed plus a twin bed and the other has a double bed and a twin. This camp sleeps 6 people.
There is a screened in porch on the front of the camp and a open deck on the back. From the back of the property, you can see a spectacular view of the High Peaks. You can also walk through the woods on the sugaring road.
The Old Wheel sits on corner of route 73 and the Adirondack Loj Road, 3 miles outside of Lake Placid. This would be a great base camp for hikers as it is located at the beginning of the road that goes into the Adirondack Loj and the base of the High Peaks.
This camp is available from Memorial Day through the first weekend in October To make a reservation, please call 1-800-258-9350.
