The park also features a snack bar in the summer, as well as an ice skating rink and sledding hill for winter fun. Centrally located in the Adirondacks, Minerva is surrounded by amazing fishing, boating …, swimming and hiking opportunities. Also only about a 12 minute drive to North Creek, 15 minutes to Gore Mountain, 20 minutes to Schroon Lake, and 35 minutes to Bolton Landing. Such a peaceful, relaxing spot to spend some down time between your Adirondack adventures!

About Us: This is our family's favorite place to gather and explore the Adirondacks. We are excited for others to enjoy it when we are not able to be there. Guests, please make yourselves at home and treat "Bear Necessities" as if it was your own. It is our happy place, where all of our troubles melt away, and we hope it can be yours too.
Why we think you will enjoy staying in Minerva: A wonderful place to escape the daily grind and reconnect with your favorite people...perfect for family time, artists' retreat, romantic getaway, guys/girls weekend. If you love having all the comforts of home while being surrounded by nature, this is the place for you.The wildlife is amazing, the stars at night are breathtaking, and each season adds its own delightful touches to the landscape that keep us coming back to see what the Adirondacks have in store this week!
Why our property is special: The beauty of nature is all around you! The windows on the bedroom side of the house overlook the picturesque Jones Brook, which also provides amazing sounds to fall asleep to. The great room deck looks down to the end of our road at the marshes of Minerva Lake and the little island beyond. The backyard features a rock wall, bursting with perennials in the warmer months. There is also a grassy spot up on the hill that has a campfire ring and is surrounded by private woods.

“We recently had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful vacation rental, and it exceeded all our expectations! Upon arrival, we were greeted with a thoughtful gift basket on the kitchen counter, a lovely touch that made us feel instantly at home.The house itself is charmingwell-appointed and incredibly comfortable, with plenty of space for our group of six adults and two children. Each room is tastefully decorated and designed for relaxation.The property is gorgeous, with lush surroundings and inviting outdoor spaces that we thoroughly enjoyed. We found it to be the perfect setting for our family getaway.We will definitely rent this house again in the future. Highly recommend!”

“Our family spent two weeks at Bear Necessities. Because everything was as the owner indicated on the website, we had a wonderful vacation! We had ample space for ourselves, our children and grandchildren to engage together or to spread out for some quiet time. We enjoyed having our meals on the deck with mountain views of Minerva Lake and on the porch watching the hummingbirds flitting among the flowers in the rock garden. Morning or afternoon visits to the lake for boating and swimming were very pleasant and relaxing. We found the recreation park community most welcoming. Sitting in the shade of the trees by the babbling brook at Bear Necessities was idyllic and it lulled us to sleep at night. All our needs were met at this nicely appointed ADK home with a very well-equipped kitchen. We appreciated the towels and bedding provided by the owner as well as basic supplies. The owner was always pleasant to work with both prior to and during our stay. We would definitely like to "visit" again. Our 7 year old grandson says it was "awesome" and we agree! ”

“We had the pleasure of staying at Bear Necessities this Feb 2024. Mindy and her family went above and beyond as hosts of this beautiful home with views of Minerva Lake and a babbling brook on the property. We could have easily packed only our clothes for this trip as Mindy has made sure that everything you might think you need is already there! Beds are super cozy. We had a short stay for a ski trip to Gore (15 min away) but would not hesitate to spend more time during any season in this lovely home located near all things we all go to the ADK to do! ”

“Our family stayed at "Bear Necessities" for our ski trip to Gore Mountain. It was conveniently located an easy 15 min. drive to the mountain and set in a private beautiful setting with views of the lake. The owner clearly communicated everything ahead of time and responded immediately to any questions I had. She went out of her way to accomodate us any way she could. The house was immaculate and very well stocked. There was absolutely nothing that we didn't have. We are looking forward to going back!”

“Myself and my family stayed at Bear Necessities from 12/26-12/31 and had a great time. Mindy (the homeowner) was a true pleasure to deal with from my initial inquiry right through our checkout. The house was super clean and was exactly what was advertised. Its just a short walk to the lake and has a beautiful view of the lake from the house. The house was very well stocked with everything you would need. Its just a 5 minute ride to Minerva beach where we were able to ice skate on the covered ice rink and sled down the hill as well. We also went skiing at Gore which was only a 15 minute drive. There are some nice restaurants in the area as well. All in all I would highly recommend this property and hope to be back myself in the summer months. ”

“This house is a beautiful and modern home - very spacious and roomy. Shared the place with 4 other friends and we were very comfortable. The whole house is very clean and the owner is very gracious supplying towels, linens, blankets, etc. The kitchen was supplied with plentiful amenities - dishes, pots & pans, Coffee maker, toaster, etc Everything you need to make a meal is provided. The Livingroom is quite cozy and has a lovely electric fireplace. Each room in the house is decorated in a nice rustic county style. The cost of the rental is very reasonable and worth it. As an extra bonus: the Sunrise and sunsets are amazing since the house is situated on a hill. There is a great view from the porch! We all enjoyed our stay and took many pictures to remember the memorable week we all shared. ”

“I found the house clean and inviting with several amenities there for our use. All the furnishings were comfortable and clean. The temperature was a little chilly outside, since we went at the end of October, and we really made good use of the gas fireplace in the living room. It gave off a surprising amount of heat. I would love to go again in the summer when we could use the outdoor grill and table and chairs on the deck. The screened in porch just asks for morning coffee there.”

“We absolutely loved staying at Bear Necessities. We have stayed in a few rentals but this house far exceeded our expectations. The house is beautiful and VERY well stocked and extremely spacious. It fit our family of kids and grandkids perfectly. The owners do a very good job of thinking of your every need. In the past Ive had to bring many of our own necessities but not here, it was all provided and a well stocked kitchen as well. The basket of sweets and even treats for the dog was greatly appreciated. The decks and porch were a plus! Cant wait to book again next year!”
