Relax after an adventurous day around a brand new fire pit with adirondack chairs situated right neat the water. Just peaceful and relaxing.

About Us: Hi, we are Mike and Melanie Schmidt. We hope you will enjoy our peaceful mountain retreat! Old Forge holds a lot of nostalgia for us since we have been enjoying this area with our families since we were children. Now, we are thrilled to explore the mountains, lakes and adorable town of Old Forge with our own children! The beauty of the gorgeous landscape allows us to reset and admire the wonder of God's creation.
Why we think you will enjoy staying in Old Forge: Our favorite things to do here are: hike (Bald Mountain, Black Bear and Rocky Mountain are favorite hikes), swim and boat in the lakes, go to events in town, llama trekking at Moose River Farm, mini golf and ice cream with the kids, eat at the many restaurants, explore the shops and head to Enchanted Forest Water Safari. We also often drive 15 mins to Inlet for the additional shops, restaurants and beaches. It seems like there is always more to discover!
Why our property is special: We love The Loon's Nest because it's so peaceful and private, on an adorable little lake and yet so close to the town of Old Forge where there is always something to do. The A-frame style cabin is very cozy with a gorgeous view of Twin Pond, Little Moose Mountain and McCauley Mountain. We look forward to many more years of family memories here and we hope your family will enjoy it just as much as we do!

“Your cabin was perfect for a weekend getaway this Fall. It was cozy, comfortable and fully stocked with everything we needed. We enjoyed playing games at night and breakfast on the deck in the morning. Your proximity to town and hiking are great for afternoon adventures. We would definitely stay here again!”

“Beautiful spot! A great house within the perfect location. Just 5 minutes from town, this secluded property made us feel that we were separated from the world. The back patio opened up to quiet Twin Lake, where we enjoyed breakfast on some beautiful peaceful mornings. Lots of great sleeping options, we made many of our meals at home and then also enjoyed the shops and restaurants within a short drive. Highly recommend this property!”

“We have rented cottages in the Old Forge and Inlet area for many years but this is the first time we have stayed on Twin Pond at the Loon's Nest. What a beautiful and quiet setting! The Loon's Nest is waterfront on the scenic pond overlooking McCauley Mountain (get your camera ready!). We had use of their large canoe and kayak on site to enjoy. There is a large deck facing the pond and the cottage is well maintained and decorated nicely. Loon's Nest is just minutes away from the Main St. of Old Forge where there are all the shops, grocery store, restaurants and activities to use. But when you get back to the cottage you feel so secluded and away from the hustle and bustle of busy life. We can't wait to stay here next year!”
