Where Is the Rental?
Our Loon Lake Home is located on Rt 26 on Loon Lake in Vermontville, NY, and is a lakefront property with 100 feet of private waterfront in a secluded but sizable cove. There is another Loon Lake in the Lower Adirondacks, that isn't us. The cottage is close to Rt. 26 but, it sits on a hill so you don't hear cars passing by. As an aside, there is very little traffic on Rt. 26. By the way, please ignore the link that brings up the Google Map. Instead, refer to the picture w …e have included with the other pictures. We are right on the lake.
How Many People will the Rental Accommodate?
The cottage sleeps 4-5. The master bedroom has a king sized bed and another bedroom has a single and double.
For availability please email us. We block out all the days on the calendar to avoid double bookings.
About the House
Adirondack decor, newly renovated, and steps to the lake, are a few of the many attributes that compliment this cottage. Cuisinart drip coffee maker to enjoy a cup of coffee before you go fishing, hiking or relaxing.
Rates are $2,750 per week through the end of August. For stays prior to mid-June or after the end of September we reduce our rates. Please contact us both for availability as well as pricing.
We also provide 2 new kayaks, a row boat and a paddle board for your use. For the cooler months we also have a gas fired fireplace.
What to Do?
It is fun to begin the day with either a hike to any one of the local mountains or, simple walk out to the dock, which is only a few steps from the back door and hop in the boat and go fishing or go for a swim. Loon Lake is a fishing jewel for bass and Northern Pike. If you are a fisherman/fisherwoman, just ping me if you are going to rent and I'll share the spots where I've had luck and what I used. You can use either a row boat we have, the paddle board or our kayaks (2). If you want to stay in, we have tons of board games for your use. If you want to bring your own trolling motor or fish finder for the row boat, please feel free to do so. Otherwise, you can get in a little exercise rowing around the lake to find a fish or two. Please note, renters are not allowed to bring their own boats.
Note, we are just a 30 second walk to a sandy beach which is ideal for swimming or just relaxing.
Not Into Fishing?
Hiking is huge around the house. You can set off on foot or drive to a nearby mountain and enjoy the view. The Milky Way is brilliant at night. I would encourage you to download an app for your cellphone so you can point it at the sky to identify all the constellations you are seeing. To digress a bit, we mentioned that we are on a secluded cove. From our house which sits on a sizeable cove, you can see no other homes. No worries about loud neighbors or other renters. The only noise you might hear would be a woodpecker. Oh, do be on the lookout for American Bald Eagles. They circle the cove at random and are magnificent to see. If you need a break from nature, we have WiFi and a smart TV. We generally have enough bandwidth to accommodate a few kids playing online games, streaming TV and a Zoom call all at the same time. Also, please feel free to use the WiFi to make calls on your cell phone.
You've Enjoyed Nature, Now What?
Saranac Lake has some wonderful restaurants and establishments that serve adult beverages. Lake Placid is a quick drive away with lots of shops, restaurants and brew pubs. Not up for driving that far for a pint and some great food, please visit https://www.hexandhop.com/ which is about a 15 minute drive away. Great food and great craft brews.
Check in time is 4pm. Check out is 10am.

“Not only is the house well situated at the end of a narrow mouthed and very private cove, the house is beautifully and wonderfully appointed, clearly designed for the convenience of any renter - Wonderful cooking facilities, large dining table, comfortable and open living room with openable glass windows across the front looking at the lake; wonderful two layer deck and easy useable kayaks for the water. And swimming available directly from the dock. We have rented in the Adirondacks at least 20 times, and this house was one of the nicest in terms of lake/water sport access: sense of being outside while inside in fair weather, the care with which the house is furnished, and the amenities provided to the renters. Owner extremely responsive to questions.”

“We greatly enjoyed the peaceful setting and what felt like 'our private cove'. We made good use of the boat and enjoyed fishing, catching some nice-sized bass as well as some perch. The cabin itself was perfect for the two of us, with the view of the lake being the best part. The kitchen was great, having just what we needed but not a lot of clutter or extra stuff. And the moose dishware was fun! During the week, we hiked Owls Head (which was a moderate climb with a great view) and went shopping in Saranac and Lake Placid, but mainly enjoyed the cabin and the lake. Thanks for a great week! ”

“The Loon Lake Lakefront home was a perfect spot for our family of 4. The house is updated nicely and comfortable; including the beds and bedding. The main focus of the house is the lake! The lake offered us fishing, boating, kayaking and swimming. Exactly what our busy teens needed to give us some peace. The fire pit is perfect on the chilly nights. The owners were super responsive throughout our rental process and gave us great restaurant tips for the towns close to the house. It was a great stay!”

“My family has stayed at many cabins in the Adirondacks over the past 25 years, and none of them begins to match our experience at this wonderful cabin on Loon Lake. It is wonderful! Completely updated on the inside as well as the kitchen being thoughtfully stocked, it is comfortable. But the best part about it is the privacy and perfect setting. Situated on a cove, there is only one other home on the cove. From the deck or the living room or the master bedroom, you look at a perfectly framed mountain while often hearing loons. We immensely enjoyed swimming, kayaking around the lake, replete with fascinating history, and just sitting on the deck, soaking in the quiet and beauty. While the surrounding area offers much to see (including the amazing Iroquois Cultural Center about fifteen minutes away), we most wanted to stay at the cabin. We felt very lucky to be able to stay there. Greg, the owner, was a gracious and thoughtful host.”

“We stayed for one week at the camp on Loon Lake, Vermontville, rented by Greg and Kathleen Spreeman. We tried to leave a review online but it didn't seem to work so we are sending you our review and asking that you post it on this listing. I can't seem to find a listing number so at the end of this, I'll put the link to the listing. Here is the review... We recently spent a week at this camp on Loon Lake. The camp was very nicely furnished and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook a meal. The camp is at the end of a small bay with a fantastic view. There are no other camps visible so it feels very private. We watched some loons swimming out in front several times and they serenaded us some evenings. It was about a 45 minute ride to Lake Placid and approximately 25 minutes to Saranac Lake. We also stopped for ice cream at Teddy's in Bloomingdale and visited the Six Nations Iroquois Cultural Center in Onchiota ($5. admission). Greg was very helpful and quickly answered our questions. There are definitely plenty of fish in the lake if you want to try the fishing. All in all, it is a great rental and we'd recommend it.”
Owner's Response

“My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cottage has recently been skillfully and tastefully renovated and is extremely clean and comfortable. The appliances are new, the furnishings are top notch and the wall hangings and decorating effects speak to the Adirondacks. The mattresses are brand new and are extremely comfortable. There is a lovely deck and outdoor furniture just steps from the waterfront and you can be in your kayak in moments. The cottage is in a lovely protected cove with very nice views from within the cottage. Of utmost importance to us, the hosts were very invested in making sure we enjoyed our stay. We very much look forward to returning. Five stars (plus) for sure.”

“Tom and his wife Clara were wonderful guests. We were fortunate enough to meet them as we were working on some finishing touches. Tom hit on some important things about the house. We purchased the home thinking it needed a new kitchen but, new floors, appliances, kitchen, beds, furniture, decorations, etc. all seemed to be in order after we completed the kitchen. A lot of hard work but, we love the results. With regards to Tom and Clara returning, I believe they will return for a few weeks next year. They are certainly welcome to return whenever their schedules permit. How were they as guests? Simply fantastic! Great communication throughout their stay and, our cleaning crew commented that the house was pristine when they arrived to clean. Based on feedback from Tom, I will work on training the Smallmouth Bass and Northern Pike. Thanks again Tom and Clara!”
