The Cabin at Effley Falls: Your North Country Getaway. Nestled in the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains, in the small town of Croghan, NY. A place to disconnect and reconnect. Comfortably accommodates 18 people (May - September) In early October we close down the apartment for the winter. If booking October-April, the main house sleeps 14. Main house: 2 bedrooms, 2 lofts, 1 bunk room, small office, large front porch, small screened porch, sleeping porch, living room, dining room, kitchen, fu …ll bath, half bath/laundry room. Apartment: bedroom, living room, bathroom. Main house: 3 queen beds (2 bedrooms, 1 loft), 8 twin beds (6 in bunk room, 2 in the second loft*) Apartment: 1 queen bed, two twins. *Note: you must climb a ladder to get to the two twin loft.
We are located directly on the lake with a large deck, dock, and swimming dock. A fire pit with eight Adirondack chairs, a long private road perfect for walks. Outdoor grill, kayaks, canoe, pedal boat, two paddle boards. Outdoor bar, volleyball and badminton net. Great fishing for smallmouth bass & pickerel right off the dock. Kayak over to a sandy beach area & rope swing on the northwestern part of the lake. Effley Falls Pond is a lake on The Beaver River Canoe Trail, you have direct access to the route. Swim, sun or just relax under the hemlocks -- truly a peaceful and private getaway.
Brand new, September 2024: Wood-fired hot tub.
*Please note if renting outside of summer months: The Cabin's main source of heat is a wood burning stove. If renting September - June, please be prepared to supplement the cabin's fuel oil heat with making, and maintaining, a fire as your primary heat source.
*You must have four wheel drive if staying at The Cabin during winter months. We are located at the end of private gravel road. Our road and driveway will be plowed for you.

About Us: Located 3 hours NW of Albany, 2 hours NE of Syracuse. There's plenty to do at the cabin, although one of our favorite things to do is nothing at all. Canoe, kayak, watch the birds, watch the stars, swim. Play board games, play volleyball, do a puzzle. Curl up on the sleeping porch with your favorite book, or grab one from our shelves. Make dinner, make dessert, make a fire, and definitely make s'mores. Sunbathe or snowshoe. Catch fireflies or smallmouth off the dock.
Why our property is special: The Cabin at Effley Falls is such a special place for our family and we can't wait for your family to make memories here, too. Beautiful, secluded, cozy and private. Thoughtfully designed and well stocked with amenities. Perfect with large families, family reunions, lots of children, friends trips, and more. A relaxing lake vacation with all the comforts of home --- come up to get away. Local area guide provided at the cabin. Completely refurbished in 2022.

“We loved Effley falls cabin so much! We have been renting lakehouses in the Adirondacks for years and this cabin offers so much and then some! The lake was perfect. The deck is awesome. We used all the watercraft daily! Nightly family time and laughter around the fire is always my favorite- and ample firewood provided! The house is so quaint and cozy. Plenty of sleeping space and the kitchen was so well stocked! Pretty quiet and private and so much to explore on the lake. It really was a prefect relaxing and fun family getaway! The owner is so nice, responsive and provided a lot of helpful info. Thank you so much for sharing your property and giving us a place to have some great memories! ”

“Truly the most private, coziest getaway we have ever been lucky enough to find. It is clear the owners have put a lot of thought into making their guests stay as comfortable as possible and the whole property is extremely clean and well kept. On top of the cuddling up by the wood stove and campfire that sits 8, there are plenty of blankets and all of the beds are SO comfortable including nice, clean bedding and pillows. Marshmallow sticks were provided which was also a pleasant surprise. The cabin has a fully stocked kitchen for all cooking / baking. (even Tupperware, for leftovers which came in handy many times). If we forgot anything, we were able to find it readily available in the cabin. We spent our weekend in October by the fire, walking down the quiet road for miles, exploring the small town near by, making dinner with local finds and canoeing out on the lake. 10/10 in all categories, we will definitely be back year after year making Effley cabin a tradition for our family. ”
