This 3,000 sq. ft. ranch style Adirondack Camp, named "Towering Pines" has recently been remolded and will accommodate a large family or a small group for a retreat.
This peaceful Camp is located in the heart of the Adirondacks and sits on 3 acres that has towering and majestic pines throughout the property and a meandering stream runs along the rear of the property. A large fire pit area is available to roast marsh mallows and to star gaze on those clear cool summer (and even winter) evenings. … Enjoy relaxing or eating your meals in the spacious screened in porch that looks out to the wooded rear yard.
The Camp is within easy strolling distance to the Speculator Village Center as well as the many shops and eateries and the public beach and pavilion. Camp Of The Woods and Oak Mountain Ski Area are also both less than a mile away.
Hiking, canoeing, kayaking, mountain biking, bird watching and even caving activities are all within a short drive from the Camp. In the winter, access to the town and NY State trails systems is easily made from the Camp and there is amble room for trailers and sleds.
At Towering Pines simply open the door, drop your bags and begin enjoying all the Adirondacks has to offer. For the Bride and Groom ask about our Wedding Specials and other use of nearby owner accommodations. Welcome!

About Us: Towering Pines is a sprawling Ranch Style Camp that provides plenty of room for everyone. The Camp sits well off the main road and has wooded areas surrounding the Camp. While not fully handicap accessible, the Camp is all on one level, has hard wood floors throughout, wide hallways and doors and large showers, so it is somewhat friendly to individuals who require the use of a walker or wheelchair.
Why we think you will enjoy staying in Speculator: The Village of Speculator is in the heart of the Southern Tier of the Adirondack Park. Speculator is within the Town of Lake Pleasant which is the County Seat for Hamilton County. This region is fantastic for all activities throughout the year and the Village has a great family feel. The Village is the gateway to the Northern Tier of the Adirondacks and is a stepping off point to the great adventures that await you when you venture literally minutes up the road.
Why our property is special: "Towering Pines" in combination with another owner property "Little Spruce" would provide the perfect location for multi family gatherings or events. The proximity of the two properties affords a fantastic opportunity also for a Wedding Party to use both properties for their preparation and celebration. Just open the door and begin to enjoy your vacation or weeding event!

“I rented towering pines November of 2021 for a hunting camp. This place was perfect. Lots of space, big kitchen and dining room, 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, plenty of parking, close to town for restaurants and Charlie Johns. Speculator area and the surrounding tree farm w/ logging road network, allow for lots of access into the local wilderness. Im planning on making this an annual trip.”

“As always, Towering Pines is an escape for our family. Room to spread out, a private setting, and yet close to everything. We love this place. Kids feel free to roam and the adults can relax and plan the next adventure. We love the improvements they have made and look forward to seeing what's next!”

“Towering Pines is a terrific home in a terrific location. Our two families had a marvelous time and used every inch of the home to our advantage as kids had space to relax and adults were able to unwind. The front yard fire pit and long driveway make for a comfy place to spend time together. Bathrooms are expansive and bedrooms are more than enough for a large group. Gas stove and outdoor gas grill make cooking easy. Short walking or quick biking distance from Camp of the Woods, local ice cream shops, the weekly farmers market and so much more. We will definitely be back!”
Owner's Response
“Thank you and we are glad your family enjoyed the camp. See you next year!”

“We had a relaxing getaway at this comfortable, spacious, and welcoming home. There was plenty of bedroom space, generously-sized showers, and many places to relax. We enjoyed the enclosed patio, the fire pit, the front porch, and our kids had fun in the TV room. Plenty of games, fully stocked kitchen, and huge dining room table. Our family of 6, plus a few days with Grandpa visiting, never felt pressed for space. Lots of fresh air! We would love to come back. We enjoyed researching hikes with the hiking book that was left. Kids enjoyed the selection of movies (though never got a chance to watch any!) and loved the decor. It didn't take long to feel at home, and we were all sorry when it was time to leave.”

“The house is incredibly nice and quite, quite comfortable -- everything depicted in the photos and described in the listing, and more. The lot on which the house sits is very nice also, and it could not be better located in town, literally steps from the grocery store, the department store, and (most crucially) the donut shop!. From the property, it is just a slightly longer walk to the nearby ice cream shop, to several restaurants, to the public library, and to the village park, beach, and ballfield/playground. From the house, it is a short drive to Camp-of-the-Woods, to the very nice State-operated Moffat Beach Campground, to Kunjamuk Cave (which the grandkids thought was cool), and to several swimming holes that we ventured into and mountains that we climbed during our stay -- very definitely a great launching point for a genuine Adirondack experience. Although we do not have a large family (we numbered just five for all but two nights of our stay), the house could easily accommodate a much larger family or combination of families. In our dealings with them. the owners could not have been more nice, helpful, hospitable, and deferential to us as their renters/guests. The house was well stocked and equipped with everything one might need for a relaxing, laidback, homey family vacation, from unusually large refrigerator/freezer and kitchen-cabinet space; to a plentiful supply of dinnerware, silverware, and cookware; to considerable closet/drawer space; to more-than-ample elbow room at the beautiful dining table; to innumerable board games and TV/videos for entertainment, to a roomy screened-in rear porch, to a very nice fire pit. The first weekend we were there during our recent two-week stay at the house, we were privileged to be able to host an old-fashioned Sunday dinner for several families within the larger group with whom we vacation each year, about 22 individuals in all, and there was more than ample space and seating for everyone. We would very much look forward to and be grateful for the opportunity to stay at the house again in future years, and we would most highly recommend the property to anyone else who might desire to do likewise. ”

“Great house. Came up for a weekend of skiing at Oak. House worked out perfectly. We had 4 adults and 7 kids in our group and everyone had a bed and could eat together at the big table. Owner was great to work with, very responsive. Everyone already says we need to come back next year.”

“Great place for multiple families to stay. Pictures are accurate. Furniture was clean and comfortable to sit on. Plenty of space to spread out if staying with multiple people. Screened in porch really nice. Large family table was great for gathering and playing games. Good place for families with small children. House is set back from road and private. Town is right down the street with grocery store and pizza place plus other business but those were the two we used. ”

“Thanks so much for use of your place. Our extended family had a blast for our family reunion. It was awesome to all be in one place with plenty of space to spread out. So many memories were made around the huge dining table. We especially loved quiet morning coffee on the screened in porch. The kids loved the fire pit and the adults loved that there was a separate family room stocked with movies and games for the kids on rainy days and evenings. We will definitely be back. ”
