“I got home yesterday from a week at Old Steamboat Lodge and would highly recommend it. I went with no definite plan as I just wanted to get away from this past year and wearing a mask. Well, I found exactly what I needed. The owner is friendly, courteous, helpful, very easy to get along with and gave me the privacy I wanted. The cabin is on secluded property, VERY cozy, was immaculate and contained all the necessities. There's a pond on the property and I could hear running water out of the bedroom window. Even though it rained most of the week, I didn't mind and was very content to spend time in the cabin. My only criticism might be that the cabin is too cozy! Wood everywhere and lots of Adirondack decor. I loved the pine cones on the curtains, the Adirondack chairs and the deck railing and twig work. As the owner had said, the south end of the lake is quiet. It's a great place to just veg if you want but there's also lots of good hiking and canoeing close by. I hiked up to the top of a mountain (Owl's Head) which has a spectacular 360 view and a waterfall is right down the road. I haven't been in a canoe in over 20 years but seeing the islands in the rivers made me remember why it's so enjoyable. I've never seen so many bodies of water and was amazed that the road crosses over the Hudson River. I also went to the Adirondack Experience for two rainy days (the ticket is good for two consecutive days) and enjoyed every building. If you're looking for a forest retreat, this is the place. Definitely going back!”

“I have to begin by stating that the Cabin exceeded my every expectation. The views of Long Lake were magnificent and the proximity to the town, shopping and hundreds of sights were very convenient. The Owner is a very nice gentleman, very intelligent and can converse on every subject from nature to Engineering and beyond. He goes out of his way to ensure that your stay is comfortable and to ascertain that all of your needs are met. Wildlife abounds on, along and around this beautiful property. There is a peacefulness that all of us city-dwellers crave on a constant basis. The nighttime sky views reveal a billion stars and the occasional meteor shower that will take your breath away. Everyone I met on this nine day/eight night trip were the nicest people you would ever want to know. The people in Stewart's convenience store and Hoss's are very friendly and will provide you with everything you need that you may have forgotten to take along. There are very few words that can properly describe my experience staying at the Old Steamboat Road Cabin on Long Lake but I can assure you that you will have the greatest time swimming, canoeing, hiking, nature walking, relaxing, playing, etc.... that you will ever have.”

“The Cabin and accommodations exceeded my every expectation. The cabin is remotely located on Long Lake and has a boat dock, beautiful water view and many points to observe deer, geese, and other wildlife. It is conveniently located 4.5 miles from town, gas stations, Stewart's Convenience store, restaurants, Antique shops, fudge and bakery shops, prop plane rides and more. The owner is located next door and goes out of his way to make certain that your experience will be a fantastic one. He is a very unique man with gentlemanly qualities who can provide intelligent conversation on any subject. He is also a well-rounded chef that amazed me with wonderful dishes befitting a five star restaurant like shrimp pasta with garlic bread, stuffed breaded pork chops, venison burgers with home made split pea soup, surf and turf (Steak and Fish) with home made french fries, and so many other delicious dishes and desserts. I have got to say that I was a fan of Indian Lake for many years. I now have a NEW favorite vacation spot (Jim's Cabin on Long Lake). For THE GREATEST vacation you will ever experience, THE NICEST CABIN you will find in the ADK... book Jim's Cabin. You will be overwhelmed and overjoyed. Thank you Jim, and Thank you Buddy for a memorable time.”

“My wife and I were lucky enough to stay for a week at this camp. The long lake area is beautiful. We arrived to find a spotless home with everything you could need for a weeks stay. The plan for the week was to Kayak and fish. The homes location made this easy. Because this camp is at the south end of the lake there was minimal boat traffic. I fished every day from my kayak and was able to land fish every time I went out. Jim even offered to clean and prepare the fish for the grill. After each day on the lake we enjoyed the provided fire pit and the quietness of the area. Town is just a short drive away with a few stores for anything you need (beer, ice). It was a great relaxing vacation and would recommend this house to anyone looking to stay in the long lake area.”
