Loon Island in Lake Bonaparte was first built upon by our grandfather well before you could drive to this shore, but it has always been accessible by foot from the mainland over a short stretch of beach and board walk which will also probably be your main playground here. The main cottage and out-buildings are rustic and very Adirondack "camp" but we have the essential plumbing and electricity. Many generations of children and dogs have spent their summers here. See maps of the island and Lake …Bonaparte area on our website and you may google Lake Bonaparte near Harrisville, NY. Loon island is north of Birch Island.
Please note: this is a rustic location, detached from the internet experience and there is no WiFi.

Why we think you will enjoy staying in Lake Bonaparte: You will be healthier; your exercise is build in when exploring the Island. Your dog will think this is dog heaven, your children will enjoy the best swimming and safe beach on Lake Bonaparte where they can wade in sand 100 yards without going over their heads. The problem that you will have is that they will want to come back every year.
Why our property is special: This is a family compound; something for all ages. The smaller cottage is ideal for grandparents with its inside bathroom, fully equipped kitchen. The Big Camp offers the ultimate in privacy. The kid climbers can look out over Turtle Island from the Tree House and some have slept in the trees overnight. Young and old catch lots of fish!

“Our stay at Loon Island was the perfect vacation for our family. Peaceful, serene and simplicity at its finest. The beautiful island welcomes your heart and your family to rest, relax and settle into slower pace. This little island is an absolute gem and I would highly recommend for anyone looking to book a family oriented lakeside vacation. The two camps plus sleeping cabins allow everyone to feel together and yet also have their own space. If nature and connection to simplicity is your aim for a getaway, Loon Island will not disappoint. We are greatly appreciative for having had the opportunity to enjoy this little piece of heaven on earth. ”

“We rented the whole island for our vacation and it did not disappoint! The owners were great to deal with from day one, answering all of our questions and helping us to make this one unforgettable trip. The camp is so full of history and great artifacts we thoroughly enjoyed hanging out, reading, swimming, canoeing and unwinding. Our 6 year old claimed that this was the best vacation of her life! She spent many hours in the tree house, on the beach and roaming the island unattended. The nightly loon calls were a wonderful way to fall asleep. I am hoping that we will return to this maginal place.”

“Loon Island is a slice of Paradise! We rented the island for a destination vacation and it met our needs perfectly. It was nice to have a cabin for each family so we could be together but still have private space. The cabins were loaded with rustic charm, clean and comfortable with all the necessities. Water activities were readily available with a large beach for swimming and a protected area for docking boats. We especially appreciated the private setting, the screen porches, the outdoor living room and the close encounters with loons. The grandchildren loved exploring the islands with their dog and playing in the treehouse. We couldn't have asked for a better vacation! Good value, highly recommended!”
