“If you are considering a stay at this cabin in the Adirondacks, you won't be disappointed. It is beautiful in every way. The cabin is gorgeous and the river beside it reminds one of a scene from the Montana movie "A River Runs Through It," with Brad Pitt. Absolutely beautiful. Everything you need is right there, and it seems the owners have thought of everything you might need, even a pizza cutter! Great fishing is nearby on lakes surrounded by beautiful mountains and trees that make the whole area smell like Christmas. Hikes are unlimited and beautiful. It's also a paradise for kayakers. In our short stay, we saw plenty of deer, turkeys, partridges, butterflies, and more. Our dogs enjoyed the trip as well. It's a treasure in every way. ”

“Wonderful cabin located down a beautiful winding driveway right on the Cedar River. The cabin itself is very well appointed with warm and comfy amenities. The owner greeted us upon our arrival to make sure all of our expectations were met and they certainly were. The location is perfect. We snowmobiled right from our front door to Cedar River road and then down to the beautiful Moose River Plains. The cabin is kept cozy and warm with a really nice gas stove in the living room. The cabin itself it absolutely spotless and the property is very well kept. We enjoyed our stay at Cedar River Cabin and Highly recommend this wonderful property to anyone that is looking for a beautiful Adirondack stay. ”

“Our stay at the cabin was amazing. We love to visit the Adirondacks in the Fall to see the brilliant colors and this trip didn't disappoint. We found about this cabin through some friends of ours. The cabin is right on the river with spectacular views of the Fall foliage. The owner met us shortly after check in. She was very polite and professional and gave us some tips to enjoy our trip. The cabin had all the amenities that you would need and then some. There was a DVD player and a variety of movies to watch and also plenty of books to read on those raining nights. The gas fire place was very cozy and keptthe entire cabin warm. Everything inside the cabin was clean and the bed and furniture very comfortable. We will definitely return. Kelly and Michael H.”

“We rented this cabin for a long weekend and a much needed getaway. We arrived to a fire in the fireplace and a warm welcome from the owner. The cabin was immaculate and well stocked with necessities. The beds were very comfortable and those flannel sheets were so welcome after a long day of hiking in the snow! We have stayed in a lot of cottages over the years but this was by far one of the nicest. The water pressure in the shower was great and the water was nice and hot. The setting is private and the creek makes it seem even more peaceful. There are tons of hiking trails in the area and Indian Lake is fairly central and easy to get to. And thank you for allowing us to bring our dog, Baxter! We will definitely be back! ”

“We had a wonderful stay at the cabin! Its clean and well stocked with plenty of room for everyone! The view is beautiful, owners were friendly and helpful, and the kids loved the collection of games to play. We had a great weekend despite some rain - only drawback was the high volume of flies and mosquitos but its that time of year. ”

“Linda and Ed's camp is even better than we had anticipated. We loved the total privacy while being within a few steps of the Cedar River. Our golden retriever thoroughly enjoyed his stay too; being able to cool off in the river and watching turkeys that wandered through at times. The cabin was spotless and well stocked; no need to take much more than food and clothing. We enjoyed the fire pit every night, and the supply of unlimited firewood is an added bonus that you don't find at many rentals. We look forward to staying there again on our next visit to Indian Lake.”

“We spent 3 wonderful days in the cabin this Christmas ( Dec.24, 2015-Dec.27., 2015) The accommodation far exceeded our expectations! The cabin was VERY CLEAN, with nice bedding with plenty of blankets and towels. The kitchen is fully stocked with everything you can possibly think of to make a great meal and beyond ( I am talking garlic press, pie baking dishes and meat mincer!!!) Lots and lots of pots and pans too! Good heater in the middle of the room kept us warm and toasty . We had 2 kids and our 4 month old puppy with us. They had an absolute blast, playing inside and outdoors. Perfect selection of board games, nice stereo (plays outdoors too) Good TV with DVD/VCR player to watch your favorite movies (We had a "Star Wars" Marathon) The weather was very mild and we enjoyed our walks on the trails along the river. We even got to use the outdoor fire pit. This cabin is a perfect getaway from our busy lives. We had no cell phone reception or internet, it was a pure bliss! Full digital detox!!! Will definitely be returning for more quality time with our family. Any season is perfect there! ”

“If you are looking for a beautiful secluded spot surrounded by nature, then this cabin is just the ticket. When you are at the cabin, you do not hear any human or automobile noises - all you hear is the rush of the river outside and birds calling. The cabin is exactly as advertised, although the pictures do not do it justice. When we arrived, the cabin was very clean. Something that this rental offers that we have not had in other places is that the cabin is cleaned by the owners between renters - well worth a little extra money! There are also sheets and towels provided. The owners have thought of all of the things you would need while there, and I was especially happy with all the places to hang things to dry. There is also unlimited wood for the fire pit, and the kitchen is well appointed. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a great get-away, and the Indian Lake area is gorgeous! ”

“ This was our first time staying at the Cedar River Camp and definitely won't be our last! Linda & Ed have a real treasure here in an area that is steeped in outdoors/Adirondack history. The ADK book selection by itself makes it a pleasure for folks who love to just plain relax, read and listen to the Cedar River babbling along within yards of the Cabin on its journey to the Hudson River. We have camped, hiked, canoed and explored through this region including the vast Moose River Plains Recreation Area for the past fifty years and it is a pleasure to have found this secluded haven now that were Seniors and enjoy a bit more comfort. Furnishings are comfortable, the propane/fireplace warm & cozy when there's a nip in the air and being able to catch native brook trout within feet of the camp an unbelievable treat! We've rented a few times previously and usually eat out at restaurants, but we thoroughly enjoyed barbequing steaks, hotdogs and settling in for the evening meal right there at the cabin. It was too cold (May) when we were there, but in warmer weather it would be easy to imagine our grandkids splashing in the river during a warm day. On arrival, the first thing our Labrador Retriever ("Greta") did was scramble over the rocks to wet her tummy in the stream! Pet restrictions and House Rules were unbelievably minimal and it was like our own private getaway for the three days we were there. To sum our stay up, we loved it and look forward to coming back in the Fall. Tim & Janice Holt Troy/Brunswick, NY”

“We loved our stay at Cedar River Camp. The owner Linda was very friendly and helpful. The cabin was cozy and homey. Kitchen was fully equipped and all the basic condiments were available. Towels were fresh and clean so were the bed linens. We had a wonderful time and will be back before the winter ends. Oak Mountain Ski Center is ~40 minutes away and perfect for family skiing. Everything was true to description provided by the owner.”

“The pictures truly do not do this property justice!! The river location is beautiful and the property itself makes you feel like you are in the woods far far from any others. Our stay was in late October for just two nights but they were well appreciated. Plenty of dry firewood for outside fires is provided, with plenty of space and sleeping options, the interior is basic but not rustic at all with things you will need all provided and clean the minute you walk in. Linda and Ed are very hospitable and helpful. We will be back!”

“My wife, daughter and I spent five wonderful days at Cedar River Camp. The cabin was very clean and we did not want for anything. It was so relaxing sitting out on the deck listening to, and watching, the river. Ed and Linda were very helpful with hiking and shopping information. Even with a major plumbing issue ( It was taken care of very promptly) we had a great stay. We would highly recommend this cabin to anyone looking for a secluded, relaxing, peaceful place to stay.”

“My husband and I stayed at the cabin June 21-28, 2014. Ed and Linda are wonderful, and this is the perfect cabin to get away from it all. It's right on the beautiful Cedar River in Indian Lake, and has everything you could possibly need. It's very seculded, and has a great propne grill that we used quite a bit. Everything was clean and spotless, and the shower was hot every morning with excellent pressure! There is a nice set of dishes to use, and a number of pots and pans. We were able to bring our dog, and we had such a wonderful time we already booked it for next year in the summer and fall!”

“Had a wonderful stay in this remote riverside cabin ...Every necessity was provided for, and the accommodations were superb! The cabin is also pet-friendly, so our lab was able to join us! One thing to note... A 4 wheel drive vehicle is definitely a plus during the winter. Our truck had no difficulties, but a small car might have found navigating the roads a bit of a challenge! We hope to visit here again, and would not hesitate to recommend this cabin to anyone who wants to "get away" from the 21st century for a few days of peace and quiet!”

“I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this wonderful cabin. Everything was provided for us, that we could possibly need, except food of course. It was very private and sits right on a beautiful river. It was so cozy and comfortable, and clean. There were all kinds of pamplets with information on things to do locally with maps too. We enjoyed some hiking trails while we were there. “We had a wonderful stay at Cedar River Camp. The cabin was even better than described; sited right on the shore of the river and very comfortable and cozy. It was spotlessly clean and ready to "move in" on our arrival. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware and utensils and even basic cooking supplies (oil, seasonings, dish soap etc.). The owners were very attentive, making sure we felt at ease with appliances and utilities upon our check in. This was to perfect location to relax and serve as our hub for regional activities. We hiked many of the local trails, including several of the Moose River Plains trails, fished in the river and visited the Adirondack and Wild Center Museums. The cabin was comfortable for the four adults in our party and gave us a beautiful place to relax and visit while listening to the rushing water right outside. We even roasted hot dogs and smores over the campfire one night - haven't done that since I was a kid! We were very pleased with our stay and would highly recommend this property to anyone looking to "get away" in comfort. Our week just flew by and we hope to be able to return someday.”

“Kevin and I have stayed at Cedar River Cabin two times now, once in the winter and again just last weekend. We love it there! The cabin is well stocked and Ed and Linda are friendly and welcoming. We are able to bring our dog, Bella, who loves being able to run free in the outdoors, away from the city and her leash. The scenery is amazing. We were lucky enough to have seen it as a "Winter wonderland" blanketed in snow and in the Spring on a beautiful weekend. It is the quiet and serene trip away from the hum-drum that we needed. We are sad to leave each time and are already looking forward to our next trip up there! Thank you Ed and Linda for your hospitality.”

“Kevin, my dog Bella, and I visited Ed and Linda's cabin in February. We left a gray and dreary Latham, NY to enter a winter wonderland at Cedar River Cabin. We were immediately blown away by how beautiful the scenery was. Linda was very welcoming and the cabin was very comfy. We spent two days and nights lounging by the fireplace, playing games, taking walks, playing with Bella, having good food and drinks, and simply enjoying the quiet serenity surrounding the cabin. We left in the middle of a snowstorm, which was cool in and of itself. We had a wonderful time there and look forward to going back when the weather is nice to enjoy Cedar River Cabin again. The river running right by the cabin was beautiful frozen. We can't wait to see it running freely in the summer months. The cabin has everything you need and is open and spacious, allowing people to spread out, but still be where conversations can happen from one space to another. The outside space was great despite snow cover. We were able to enjoy mid-day sun with a fire and plenty of space for Bella to race around. Thanks Ed and Linda for a great stay! We look forward to returning very soon! ”

“I have been coming to Cedar River Camp for the last 8 years ... that in itself should be a 5-Star review. The Browns always make us feel at home, the cabin ready for vacation fun - clean, cozy, plenty of wood for the fabulous fire pit, a rambling river to sit by, lots of great Adirondack books, and really, everything you need for your stay. They Brown's have thought of everything from tongs to roast marshmallows to flashlights to a waffle iron and plenty of blankets and pillows to keep you comfy during the cool northern nights. The location is amazing, close to wilderness, quaint towns, great hiking, swimming and more. Really ... you can't do better than Ceder River Camp and once you go, I promise, you will return! I did and so have many of my friends! Thanks always to Linda and Ed for being such gracious hosts!”

“Just returned from a girls Adirondack weekend for some kayaking and relaxing. The Cedar River Cabin was everything we hoped for and more! Such a beautiful setting on the river! Sitting on the deck listening to the river was so peaceful and relaxing. The "younger" girls loved rafting on the river while the rest of us watched from the deck. We had so many kayaking options nearby we had a hard time deciding which lake to venture onto but decided on Blue Mountain Lake. We weren't disappointed! This cabin has everything you could want for a wonderful time in the Adirondacks. Listening to the water while falloiung asleep was a special bonus. “Cedar River Camp was everything I hoped it would be - cozy, quiet, perfectly located, and well-equipped. Linda was incredibly responsive to e-mailed questions before booking, and she had the place open and welcoming upon arrival. My stay was perfect - the cabin was ideally situated between peaks and hiking trails, and the river was a perfect soundtrack to the evenings I spent reading and relaxing. I plan to return to the area and wouldn't stay anyplace else; Cedar River Camp is the best!”

“My Wife and 1 year old Yellow lab had a splendid weekend! My wife was especially happy with the bathroom and shower. I enjoyed the sound of the river flowing while relaxing on the couch! Our yellow lab, while he wasn't busy walking in the icy waters of the river, loved to sleep next to the gas fireplace! We also were very close to Sawyer Mountain hiking trail (short car ride). Everything was clean and tidy, I recommend this place to everyone... this place was the definition of relaxing for us! If you go in the winter, bring snowshoes for hiking the trails snow was very deep! And the driveway is quite long but the owner had it plowed very nicely. one negative was that we didn't see any moose... may be next time though!”

“We had a great time ! Well, everybody usually says that, but in our case it's 100% true - the Mr, the Mrs, our 10 month beagle puppy and our front wheel drive car on summer low profile tires stuck in a snow - everyone had their part of fun. We enjoyed the cabin so much - it's so cozy, warm and you feel at home even being miles and miles away from your nest. Just a tip - hike for 12 miles on a sunny winter day, come home around 5 pm, start the fireplace, fix yourself a cup of tea and enjoy every moment of your life. Again, thank you so much to Ed and Linda for being kind enough and digging us out )) Looking forward to stay at your lovely cabin again !”

“Cedar River Camp is the perfect retreat for couples or families. My family absolutely loves it. I go up about 7 to 8 times a year. It has become my home away from home. The owners Ed & Linda, and the kids have become part of my extended family. If your looking for Rustic and solitude it's the perfect place. If you have kids, they will love the fire pit to toast marshmellows or make smores, or cool off in the river on hot summer days. The house is fully loaded with everything you need, and it's great to be able to barbecue on the grill in the summer. ”

“Being this was our first time having to rent where we stayed in the Adirondacks, we could not have had a more grand first time experience. Upon arriving to the cabin we were able to settle in right away. Everything was sparkling clean and welcoming. It had a "home away from home" feel right from the onset. There was such beauty and tranquility that embraced our stay. Sitting out on the deck soaking in all that was before us was more than medicinal. I would've loved to have a rain roof over the door's entry, and a fire ring riverside - but this is rather a pittance observation compared to all that was there for our enjoyment...including an invitation to enjoy the river via a flotation ring that was midway across, secured by rope from one shore to the other. I thought that was pretty clever! Our week stay had us wishing we had all our closest family and friends with us so to share the amazing time we were having. But, the company we did have in red efts, dragonflies, butterflies, merganser ducks, hummingbirds, and kingfishers was second to nothing! Note to self:: bring a hummingbird feeder next visit. Driving to camp along Cedar River Road is the second finest aspect to this secluded, extremely private cabin. And, if you do venture out, the Cedar River Flow and trailhead to Wakely Mountain are just down the road. Same for the Moose River Plains Recreation Area, and Sprague Pond. To me the Cedar River Camp is an all inclusive Adirondack playground! Thank you Ed & Linda! We were sincerely not for want for anything. ”

“My nephews and I rented this property for our annual hunting trip in 2006 and foudn it to be just what we were looking for with only one exception due to its location we could not walk to state land to hunt which is the only reason we have not returned for this annual event. The setting was otherwise fantastic with the river literally within 5 feet of the foot of the deck stairs and very private. Once there you feel like your in the middle of nowhere but with all the comforts of home. Not a sound excpet the running river and the wildlife. If your looking for a peaceful rest with a good book and a cup of coffee or a drink on the deck you won't be dissapointed. If you can't relax on this deck well you should seriously consider therapy. The unit was failry typical for an adirondack rental camp moderate in size with knooks and crannies but more than adequate as long as your not expecting to play ping pong in the living room. This clearly started as a one or two room cabin and has been added on with a couple sections but regardless it was cozy and clean including linens and towels etc. Furnishings are also typical for adirondack rentals not new but in good shape with pleanty of throw pillows and knit blankets for those afternoon naps and chilly adirondack nights. All the amenities necessary are provided and within minutes of unpacking we felt right at home. Parts of the driveway are a bit steep and dirt so if you come in the late fall when you could get snow or if it is very rainy it wouldn't hurt to have 4WD but if you had to you could park at the top of the drive I suppose if you were expecting trouble in that regard its only a couple hundred yards or so from the road. Your hosts Linda and Ed are great, available if you have any questions or need anything as they live a relatively short walk away on the other side of the street. They checked in once shortly after we arrive to see that everything is satisfactory but thats it. As for location, while at the camp as I said you'll feel you are in the middle of nowhere with nothing around for miles in fact I can't remember seeing a single houselight after dark but jump in the car and you can be in the moose river recreation area for some serious back woods hiking or in Indian Lake for a bite to eat within minutes, or go a little further in the other direcetion and your at the adirondak museum, really great location. So in short if your looking for a spa with a personal hot tub, massues and mud baths while being served sushi and fine wine overlooking the vinyards you should have searched under Napa Valley, but if like Elmer J. Fudd, you are looking for some truly "peaceful west and wewaxation in the gweat outdoors" at a much more reasonable price you found it, you can always bring your own wine and sushi. ”

“Over the past five or so years we have enjoyed staying at the Cedar River Camp, in all seasons. We have vacationed in the summer months July and August, the fall September and October enjoying trout fishing, hiking and camp fires, and during the big game season, hunting the Adirondack whitetail. During all of these adventures we have found the camp to be warm, comfortable, friendly and still whimsical, with the Cedar River only a few feet from the deck it is truly one of the gems of the Adirondack Park. If you enjoy an outside fire the camp is for you, with a well stocked wood shed and the best fire pit you will find, many a night and afternoon can be spent spinning yarns and Adirondack tales around a generous camp fire. If you enjoy wildlife, sit quietly on the deck or on the porch, and wait for the Merganzer ducks, otters, or deer to come by and if you want to hike, you can right from the front door. What can I say, the nights are filled with the sweet scent of Balsam Fir, and damp north woods enough to intoxicate even a City dweller,. Enjoy an evening in front of the gas wood stove with a good book or game board, and get to know the kids again. On a rainy day spend time making small birch bark canoes and float them down the river in a miniature canoe race. No matter what month of the year the Cedar River Camp offers peace and tranquility. If snow is your partner than enjoy a trip in the winter with the snowmobile, or snow shoes as the camp is at the front door of the fantastic miles of trails at moose river plains. I could write pages and not say enough. If you stay, check out the camp log book and see if you can figure out the folks that have been there before you. We all have a common bond; a love for the great Adirondacks, and a love for solitude. The camp offers everything you could possibly want in an Adirondack vacation, try it out, I am certain you will become intoxicated as I have with her charms.”

“We stay at the Cedar River Cabin every July and absolutely love it there! It is very remote, so no neighbors to hear. It is right next to the river and the sound of the water is very pleasant. The river is great for tubing and sitting on the rocks with your feet in it, very relaxing. Linda and Ed Brown are wonderful renters. They supply you with everything you need to be comfortable at the camp: dishes etc in the kitchen, linens on the beds and towels in the bathroom. Everything is clean and well maintained. Once you rent there you will consider it your little slice of heaven and want to return every year.”

“This was our second time staying here and again it was wonderful! The location is very private, quiet, and has a trail to go anywhere you want in snow or just walking. We will be staying again next year and hope that nothing will change. Linda & Ed are very nice people who care about your stay at their cabin. Wildlife is abundant if you know where to look, we had seen 1 large Buck and 2 does on our walk plus lots of other signs of widlife. Don & Sherry Williamson”

“This is a wonderful cabin, spacious and clean and right on the river! I have been renting in the ADK mountains for a long time and this cabin is one of my favorites! It is like a relaxing home away from home. The cabin has comfort and privacy and the river is right there which is very peaceful. Definitely a place where you can experience nature or just sit comfortably and relax and read a good book. We have stayed there a few times and look forward to the next stay! ”

“Cabin was fabulous. Bugs were relentless in July. Had a fun time- rented a boat on Blue Mountain Lake- caught some large and smallmouth bass. Beautiful area, would like to come back in the fall sometime. Great place for a nice quiet getaway. Went canoeing- owners were kind enough to let us use canoe. Lots of tourist attractions in the area to entertain family.”
