Welcome to The Gazebo, a well-appointed cottage set among cedars and pines and overlooking a quiet, jetski-free lake! It's only a few steps from the deck to the waterfront for swimming, paddling or sunning at the Canoe House. This is a place to experience life differently from the rest of the year. With no television or phone on site, you can create the relaxing environment you want during your visit.
Your days here might be filled with paddling on the pond and Osgood River; connecting with …the extensive waters of the St. Regis Wilderness Canoe Area; climbing St. Regis Mountain (visible from the pond) or many other easy to difficult peaks nearby; hiking the Interpretive Center trails, the Red Dot trail or numerous trails in the area; fishing the pond for Bass and Pike; swimming from the dock or bicycling and exploring less-traveled roads.
Osgood Pond, described as a "pristine mountain lake" is approximately 1-1/2 miles long. Much of its shoreline is forever-wild state land.
Let's go inside...
The living room is warm and cozy, a wonderful place to relax and read. Choose a book from the bookcase and enjoy it in the comfy sofa or chairs. Listen to the FM or put on some music.
Dining room, kitchen and pantry are equipped with everything you need for cooking and dining.
The bedroom has a king-size bed and large dresser and closet. There's a full bathroom with tub/shower. Bedding, blankets, linens and towels are provided.
A deck overlooks the lake and includes a gas grill, table and chairs. Check out the hammock for snoozing on warm summer afternoons.
The Canoe House is not only a place to shelter canoes but your outdoor living space. Open the double doors to the beauty of the lake to enjoy coffee or a glass of wine at the end of the day. Sit and watch a rainstorm sweep down the pond. At the end of the day, watch the stars appear while listening to the Loons serenade.
The Gazebo and Canoe House are historic structures. Both part of the Harrison G. Otis camp (built in 1906). It was originally an open-air gazebo. On warm afternoons, elegant ladies gathered to sip tea and enjoy the cool breezes from the lake. After dinner, gentlemen retired to the gazebo to savor brandy and cigars. Their conversation interrupted only by the call of the Loon.
Over the years, the Gazebo was enclosed and it became a charming cottage. The original roofline and the cathedral ceiling still remain. The lake-facing sliding glass doors invite views of flower-filled window boxes, majestic pines and rippling waters.
Birders and nature lovers can follow the path of Teddy Roosevelt to discover why the Adirondacks are called a "birders' paradise". By trail or canoe you'll discover Spruce Grouse, Black-backed Woodpecker, Boreal Chickadee, varied Warblers and the Crossbill.
Relaxing on the Canoe House deck you might see the Bald Eagle swoop down for a fish - the Great Blue Heron wing along the shore or watch and listen to the Loons. Small (and large) animals abound: squirrels (including the amazing flying squirrel), chipmunks, raccoons, beaver, otter, turtles, deer and Moose. Water and land plants too many to mention. Beautiful butterflies and moths are here, too.
We welcome you to the Gazebo on Osgood Pond.

“Dear B and B, Thank you so much for making a lifelong dream come to fruition. I had such a lovely time in the Adirondacks and it will remain stored in the memory banks forever, as my official kick-off into retirement. We enjoyed our time in your lovely home as well; what a gem of a property you have there. The Gazebo is absolutely lovely! ”

“The Essence: When making a decision on where to go for a getaway, a person may search out the amenities available to the Gazebo guest. The list is varied and extensive. After nine years of vacations at the Gazebo, we have thought about just what it is that keeps us coming back year after year. Some of the reasons can be found on the the amenities list, but the most compelling motives are not found on any list, but live in the realm of the heart. This is where the essence of the Gazebo is found. This is where the feelings of sanctuary and home abide. The peacefullness of the mountains and the pond are so pervassive that if you are receptive, it will enter into your being. For us, it is also an experience of timelessness. We feel that we have always been there and a part of us never leaves. Open your heart, love, relax and enjoy yourself and each other. This is the essence of being truly alive. The hospitality, generously given by our hosts, reflects the true spirit of the Adirondacks. It is not possible to say how much the hospitality contributes to the experience, but once felt, it's absence would leave a yearning. Words cannot fully express our appreciation. ”

“I enjoyed my stay very much. The Gazebo was clean and cozy, I felt very much at home. The kitchen invites me to cook. There are 2 beautiful decks, one is under the trees with a grill and table and chairs, and the other is at the canoe house on the lake. I can sit comfortablly and watch the loons and ducks. On the other shore, I can see lovely pine trees. Swimming is great. Or I can canoe. It's so peaceful. I want to come back again every summer. ”

“The Gazebo Thoreau went to the woods because he wished to live life deliberately. You can do that at the Gazebo. Pay attention to time as it goes by. From the canoe house dock paddle up Osgood Pond, turn left at historic White Pine Camp (Calvin Coolidge's summer White House,) and into the Osgood River. Bird watching is superb here as it is everywhere in this area. Or keep straight and enter the outlet leading up to Jones Pond. Or cross the Pond to the little shaded cut through the woods to reach Church Pond. Dock and visit Paul Smiths College. There you will find a library with internet service, a post office, a bookstore and a restaurant run by the hotel students. Walk to Paul Smiths Visitor Interpretive Center with its informative and helpful staff. Enjoy the many well-mantained nature trails. Sit quietly on one of the outlooks and you might catch sight of a heron feeding on the pond. Visit the small weekly farmers' market held at the Center's parking lot. Swim or hang out on the dock at the canoe house and fish (sunfish, perch, bass and pike,) or watch the loons fish instead. Keep an eye out for the occasional osprey or bald eagle. Read, write or just relax to the sound of water lapping the shore until the sun sets. If there is too much sun, or showers come, just move under the shelter of the canoe house. The owners are experienced and thoughtful hosts. As stewards of Osgood Pond, they know much about the history and environment of this region of the Adirondacks and of the historic great camp that the Gazebo was once part of. They are there when you need them, or not, if you prefer your own time and space. the Gazebo is an excellent retreat for two. There is one bedroom, although one or perhaps two older children would enjoy sleeping on the the living room futon and fold out bed chair. (there are beautiful old stone steps curving down from the deck to the canoe house dock that are not for toddlers left on their own.) It is relaxed, simply, but comfortably furnished with everything needed for housekeeping, heated for cool mornings or nights, and supplied with delicious cold water from a deep drilled well. We've been returning for many years. ”
